Head over to Dharma Wants You and take Test 2. You may take the test as many times as you like, but only your first score will be counted. You will not be told your results upon completion, and there is a cheat this time as well.
We are being put into three groups this time around: Steropes, Brontes, or Polyphemus, which are all names of cyclops.
Click here to read more about the Test 2 cheat.

Please be careful not to spoil the cheat for a bit so people can try to find it themselves if they want to :D.
A TLC Happy Birthday shoutout to Mr Purgatory himself,Chucklez3.
Now excuse me, I have a test to take.
Yes Happy Birthday Chucklez!!
I just took the test. I'm in Poloyphemus group now.
Then I come here and find out there's another cheat. To late now the site says it only takes th first test. Ah well. Or maybe the cheat negates that. hmmmm
Good Morning Everyone... Glad to see that the new test is up!
xxoo
email...
Sayid'sgirl,
I am in Polyphemus too.
I thought with my heart, instead of my cheat.
Wow, I actually figured out the cheat without reading about it first!
hi,
there is also a brontes group (a cyclops too)
execept for pinnochio and the donkeys, I am not sure any of my answers are right !! :oS
I will not score well because, I used my laptop, which wirelessly times out and then I have to reset the network! UGH!!
I'm in a group called 'Steropes'
and i'm pretty sure i did rubbish on the test.. my general knowledge isn't good.. =P
If anyone has the time, it would be great if you could post your questions and answers here. Obviously, don't screw up your first test results.
BTW, I briefly looked in the source codes, and I didn't see the questions/answers there, BUT I did notice a piece of code that check to see if you "cheated". Not sure what that means right now...
WoooHoooo I made the leader board !!! #10 but hey, I can up that given time ! lol I'm so excited ! Lisa
Congratulations Lisa!
Also, if people want to post their questions, it would also be helpful if you looked up the correct answer and just posted that one as well (we don't really need the incorrect answers)
Lisa, I have a few questions:
Did you sign anyone up?
How many Dharma points do you have?
What group are you in?
What was your score on Test 1?
Did you use the space bar cheat?
Hi Dennis, I've signed up everyone I know and then some. I have 310 Dharma Points and working on getting more. I'm in Ganymede Group and Bronte ( I think that's what it was) My first score on Test 1 was 79 before cheat and after cheat was 99 so yes, I did use it. I also used the cheat on test 2 because people are finding that it seems we should cheat. There is code in the flash file looking to see if we cheat so I will be cheating the whole time.
Here's my first set of questions:
Which sea lies at one end of the Great Wall of China? The Yellow Sea
What famous artist worked in a loft called "The Factory"? Andy Warhol
In medical terms, what does the suffex "-genic" mean? Genetic
Who wrote "A Pilgrim's Progress"? John Bunyan
Where are carpal bones found? Wrist
What is a Herkimer diamond? Quartz Crystal
Which of these medical terms means "to leak outside of a blood vessel"? Extravasate
Where in England was the Magna Carta signed in 1215? A Field Near Runnymede
What form of writing uses mostly dialog? Play
This is probably a bit naughty, but I'm waiting for all correct answers before I attempt this :P
I dont want to mess up.
I'll be using the cheat also
thanks dennis, are there different questions each time? and are they in a different order each time?
also are you timed?
(I havnt taken the test yet so I'd like to know all about it rather than be surprised when I do)
unfortunately, the questions change each time you take the test so unless you write down every question someone has and then look up all the answers, it won't help waiting to take the test.
Oh and it is timed so you can't look up the answers.
I was placed in Polyphemus and I used the cheat for the last question. I think I'll be scrubbing toilets for the DI because I don't feel like I did that well on the test.
The questions I believe I answered correctly on were the ones that had to do with the Arts. Perhaps the groups are determined in that manner. Some were science, some were geography, and some were arts related.
if someone who has taken the test could take it a few more times and write down all of the questions that would be great :)
Ok I took the test before I came here - I didn't use the cheat, even though I made note of the clue. I'm in Polyphemus.
So much for the moons theory? I can't find anything about any moons being called Polyphemus.
I can't remember all my questions, but I also had the carpal bones one.
There was one asking about Irish geography, one about impressionist art, and that's all I can think of right now.
Also, if the cheat or the clue is "I C", "I See", or "Eye See" and the groups are all cyclops... well not so good for Polyphemus considering Odysseus and his men shove a hot stake into his eye and blind him. YIKES! After which they completely hoodwink him by hiding under sheep and escaping. So perhaps our group "doesn't see"!
the reason for me wanting to 100% this test is just to se the difference it makes in the long run, I got 100% on the first test with the cheat, and I plan to cheat on all tests and complete them to the highest score possible.
Matthew, someone on Dark Ufo is compiling all the test questions and so far he has over 60 of them so you might be waiting a while for all of them.
The real question is does cheating work for or against you as far as the DI is concerned? I guess it also depends on what you want to wind up doing for them.
Cheaters may become DI cops or forensic experts. After all, since they are good at figuring out how to cheat, they are probably good at identifying potential cheaters (or other types of miscreants) ;-).
Happy Birthday, Chucklez3! Hope things are going good for you!
Well, I took the test and I'm now a Steropes (which is another Cyclops). I'm sure I did terrible on it...didn't know most of the answers. I didn't write them down as I did them, but here are the ones I vaguely remember:
The meaning of the name Iwo Jima.
Father of Heracles
Largest island in the Baltic Sea.
Something about a past perfect verb.
What sense is olafactory?
I got The Factory artist question.
That's all I remembered. Question 10 was: The answer is A. A, B. B, C. C, D. D.
I personally don't care what score I got! I know there are a lot of cheats out there, I just don't want to invest the time or energy any more. I thought I would never say that! LOL
I'm more interested in why the cheats? And what's the meaning of Cyclops groups?
me too, matthew haywood. I have two accounts. One I'm totally cheating on and the other I'm not. I have to say, it is more fun not to cheat because I can keep taking test one and trying to better my score. There's no point to trying to better my 100% on my cheater's acct.
Some questions from test 2 (but I haven't looked up the answers yet):
-what organ does a deer NOT have:
a) pancreas
b) liver
c) small intestine

Sorry for any misspellings.. I was writing fast...
sorry for the long post... I'll just go look at darkufo, then. Thanks, lisa! You said...
"so far he has over 60 of them so you might be waiting a while for all of them."
patience is bitter? lol
lol, "Cheaters may become DI cops or forensic experts"

I think so too. My non-cheating account got into Brontes. I'll have to look that up. Still waiting for the cheater acct. to take the test.... lol
Happy Birthday, Chucklez3!
Checking in, but don't have a lot of time. Took the test, figured the cheat, although I was hitting "i" with all the questions, then it became clear on Question 10. Anyway, skimmed the comments, I'll try to remember and post my questions later. I'm in polyphemus now too. What is the meaning of all these tests with built in cheats?
Maybe only our first score on test one is the only one that counted, too?
Here's another one I just remembered:
Where the first human heart transplant took place: Cape Town, So. Africa
Answers to:
The meaning of Iwo Jima: Sulfur Island (I actually knew this since my Dad fought on that island in WW2 and remarked about the sulfur smell!)
The father of Heracles: Zeus
Largest island in the Baltic Sea: Gotland
Olafactory: Smell
Codysmom: please dont say that haha, I got something terrible like 40% :P
I looked at Dark's site and a lot of the questions that I got on my test aren't listed on their page. It will be interesting to see how many different questions there are.
I looked over at dark's, too. So many questions. I don't think I'll ever be able to know everything... hopefully the cheat will be enough to put me in the cheat catagory for my first acct., because I don't think I could ever get all the questions right. Maybe there's another cheat.... I'll be patient.. lol
matthew H, I got a terrible score first time, too! probably worse than yours... lol
Phew. Made it, that was a tough one. I'm in Steropes group.
Lisa said... unfortunately, the questions change each time you take the test so unless you write down every question someone has and then look up all the answers, it won't help waiting to take the test.
That's what I'm trying to do :)
It requires a group effort however - I can't do it all myself. If everyone pitches in and takes the test - log out if you don't want it to count - and types up their 9 questions, then maybe we can get a list of all the correct answers.
That's great DarkUFO is already doing it too. Does someone have a link to their questions?

It's a work in progress as Q and As come in.
There's no way I'll be able to look up all those answers with a timed test... akkkkkkkkk!
There must be another cheat or else maybe the answers don't matter except for the last one?
Oh, yeah... I forgot. What am I worried about? I didn't want to be a volunteer outdoor-working, physical-laboring, time-displaced member of the new DI anyway! LOL
I'm having more fun with Black Swan anyway... check it out. Our numbers are growing and there's a new, funny jib-jab dance with Ben, Dan Bronson, and Richard Alpert.

I'm glad you posted that Codysmom, no way I was going to look them up and post them. they are up to 97 questions and the list is growing on and on. Good luck Matthew
Great. I clicked to play, but no questions are showing up. Sat there loading for a while and then nothing.
After not being able to even access the site for the first test until a good few days later I am on the virge of giving up on this one.
codysmon,
hopefully once all the answers are complied, you should be able to study the correct answers, and take the test quickly without having to look them up. YMMV.
Okay refreshed it (which I guess will give me a stored score of zero, great), got the first question, clicked the answer and.............nothing.
Hmmf.
*sigh* Furtherst I can get is Q2 before it jams and stops working. I give up.
Fenris... I'm taking the test right now, and it's working fine for me (in IE 7)
Brontes - and I took it twice because I thought maybe I missed seeing my score the first time. The test was radically different.
Did you notice it's the
B.S. Knowledge Analysis.
Go Black Swans! :D
Or I guess they could mean the othe B.S.
I'm surprised how smooth the site worked for me this morning. I'm on Firefox. Sorry to hear about your problems, Fenris!
Oh, I used the cheat. if that matters. Are the Brontes a bunch of cheaters or something?
Hello every1, IM BACK!!!Yes, its true, knowing nothing would happen till wed here in europe I kinda got a bit disconnected. But no more!hehehe
Glad to see the BSWY myspace page is up (Im making u my friend ;P)
Took test two after he cheat was discovered, googled about two questions, thought it was ok. My main account got assigned to polyphemus, and my BSWY to Brontes.
Mmmm, what else...
well Polyphemus is ALSO THE NAME OF A MOTH!!!

You think maybe the people that use the cheat "I C(see)" are divided between the Brontes and the Steropes - two of the cyclops that can see.
And the ones who don't cheat Don't "I C" are put in the cyclops that's blinded - Polyphemus.
Yeah, I'm not thinking there was that much thought behind it either. . .
Who do we think is letting us cheat, RuckusGuy? Or the DI, to blindtest/trick/judge us?
@lost2010 actually I cheated on both accounts and got "C" but on the first I went from ganymedes to polyphemus and on the second from pandora to brontes...so I doubt it!Maybe only the way we answered one particular question + the cheat at the end matters (For example, its not a theory or anything)
ANM
I did not use the cheat and I'm Steropes.
@codysmom please add me as a friend at BSWY!!!;P
ANM
Welcome back, ANM!!!!!!!!!!
We missed you!!!
Ok, I'm going to......
on my first account i didn't cheat first time and got put in Brontes. On my 2nd account i did cheat and still got Brontes! Grr!!
+ codysmom said:
'Maybe only our first score on test one is the only one that counted, too?'
this is what i've thought since i set up my 2nd account; as the group doesn't change after the first time you take the test no matter what you do.
Burkina Faso = Upper Volta
Churchill's 'American Carnot' = George Marshall
In Emily Bronte's 'Wuthering Heights', Heathcliffe was in love with Catherine Earnshaw.
Louisa May Alcott wrote the book 'Little Women'.
emeraldislost, yes, I'm afraid that is true about only the first test score counts on all these... maybe that's where the patience thing comes in. We should wait until "others" have found all we need to know.
I should have said, afraid it may be true
more coffee......

Ok all you BS, Im officially Nanaluvren at Myspace.
ANM= Nanaluvren...ok?
Feels like I just changed coka cola's name or somethin'!!!

I'm still laughing over the jib jab dance. I had to watch it more than once. Great job.
Cool myspace page! I don't use myspace much, but I added black swan as a friend!
thanks, sayid'sgirl!!
I think Black Swan is more fun than this ARG....
It does clearly say in the instructions that only your first attempt will count.
madariad, great! I'll go look....
And now I'm off to re-watch some old episodes.........
I'm up to the middle of the second season - trying to watch all of them before season 5 starts.
My questions and answers are :
Where was the world's first human heart transplant performed in 1967 ?
C - Cape Town, South Africa
Which of these is a kingdom in the classification of living things ?
C - Fungi
How many days do ants live on average ?
A - 60 days
How often do you take medicine labeled Q.I.D ?

What leader said "The great art of governing consists in not letting men grow old in their jobs" ?
A - Napoleon
The QID one was new to me, it must be a US thing as I've not come across it in the UK and I work with people in the healthcare industry.
At this point, I think that the groups we're "placed" in are totally random. Nothing seems to make much sense. And I don't think it's so important to do well on the tests...for whatever is coming at DWY, everyone will be able to be involved no matter how well they scored or what group they're in.
Codysmom,
Please add me as a Black Swan friend.
The pond is getting crowded already.
takes a village, how about you friend Black Swan (www.myspace.com/blackswanwantsyou)? I don't know where you are on myspace...and yes, the pond is getting crowded!!
I feel like the cheat we currently know about can't be the only cheat. Time seems to be a strong theme, and maybe there is some way to make it seem like you never took the test at all or even go back to previous questions or something. Maybe I'm just giving Hoodlum too much credit...
How about this? You go as fast as you can thru the questions (maybe they don't count) and you use the cheat on the last one. Would this be what the DI is looking for? After all, the whole DDWY site is only interesting because of the cheats (and the fact that they want to recruit as many people as possible).
codysmom said...emeraldislost, yes, I'm afraid that is true about only the first test score counts on all these... maybe that's where the patience thing comes in. We should wait until "others" have found all we need to know.
Maybe that IS it- what was it that the email said? "patience is bitter" and the rest of the saying says something like the fruit is good- or something like that. I guess the point is to not take the tests the second they come out, but wait until someone finds a cheat, find out the answers and then take the test and do well. Maybe the "best" recruits will be the ones who wait, use all the knowledge from other players and then take the tests. Of course, who's gonna volunteer to be the guinea pigs if we all wait? Better start spying on other blogs. ;)
Man I looked at Dark's list. I don't think I did too well...lol. Why couldn't I have gotten some of those other questions, there were a bunch I know, but they weren't the ones I got! bummer
Hellloooo! (echo) Guess everybody's out right now.
I'm here, scoutpost! I even wonder if we should be REALLY patient...
Did you ever do one of those tests to see how well you follow directions? The last question states: Don't answer any of the questions... this was just a test to see if you read all the directions before you start... or something like that:)
I was looking at Dark's list of questions and he had this one. What word means to think about something and then do it on purpose He only had A.B.C.D. as an answer. Does that mean he doesn't have the answers or that was his choices for an anwer?
Because I had that question and mine had answers. I just can't remember what they were.
They must be editing the list, because when I looked at it, the answer was "premeditated"
I took the test with my two accounts:
On one I used the cheat: Brontes
On the other I didn't: Steropes - I knew what the right answer was (i-C:C) so I used that.
Don't know what (if anything) it means.
As soon as the list is finalized, I'll put it up on the front page.
I wish they would take out all the wrong answers, and just leave the correct ones. It makes it easier to study...
Thanks dennis
Next week I'll come here to find out what the cheat is before I go take my test. lol I never thought I'd say that. :)
lol, I know what you mean, sayid'sgirl. Up until now, I've always tried to be honest:)
I am having a problem with my non-cheating account. It tells me that I've completed the test, but when I check my progress, it says that the test is incomplete...
From now on,we won't press start until we are finished.
OK, what do you guys think about this question:
Which of these is an example of personification?
A. Painful Echoes
B. Weary Street Echoes with pain
C. The weary street
D. Echoes pain
I think it is C (the street is weary), DarkUFO has B as the answer. Anyone an English major?
I was an English major, but that was over 30 years ago:) I think it's B
I think it's B. "The Weary Street Echos with Pain" is a street that is weary and has pain that is echoing.
Maybe that makes sense
dennis
I'm not an English major, I'm not even good at English. But I agree with you I think it's C. A street can't be weary. And to me B, seems more descriptive.
Does it say Weary Street or The Weary Street? Because the word The would make a difference.
I am in the Steropes group this time, I am pretty good with wht I call useless knowledge. But who knows it could all be very arbitrary. Has anyone found anything in the code of the site that would distinguish what group you are in? Should be in there somewhere. I know Rexhector is trying to hack into it. Go Team Lena!!
Denis, how about Echoes Pain as in Mr. Eko???
Eko's Pain? :)
It doesn't say The Weary Street ...it's just Weary Street, which could be the name, and I don't think "echos with pain" is personification...
Personification is when you give an inanimate object human characteristics or an abstract idea...hmmm So B or C seems correct, bu tI like the idea of Mr. Eko too...
I too would like to be a friend of this Black Swan
Hook me up...Thrasher76 on myspace!
Thanks!
From Wiki - all hail Wiki
Sterope (Greek: Στερόπη , στεροπή steropê lightning) was the name of several individuals in Greek mythology:
* Sterope, daughter of Pleuron and Xanthippe
* Sterope, daughter of Porthaon and Euryte, sometimes said to be the mother of the Sirens by Achelous
* Sterope (or Asterope), one of the Pleiades and the wife of Oenomaus (or his mother by Ares); see also Asterope (star)
* Sterope, daughter of Cepheus, the king of Tegea, who received a lock of Medusa's hair from Heracles to protect her hometown, Tegea from attack, thus winning Heracles' friendship for her father
* Sterope, daughter of Acastus and either Astydameia or Hippolyte
* Sterope, one of the horses of Helios
* Sterope, one of the Maenads
* Steropes, one of the Cyclopes
damn. didnt wait... just ploughed straight into it answered them as fast as i could. judging by the answers coming in i reckon i got about 60% correct...makes me a cyclops, either that or my name is ann emily or charlotte...:@)
What are all the groups this time around? Forgive me if it has been said, I searched and did not see it.
well im in brontes!
dont know if this has already been said but i ripprd this from wiki..
In the Theogony, the Cyclopes – Arges,[3] Brontes, and Steropes – were the primordial sons of Uranus (Sky) and Gaia (Earth) and brothers of the Hecatonchires. They were giants with a single eye in the middle of their forehead and a foul disposition. According to Hesiod, they were strong, stubborn, and "abrupt of emotion". Collectively they eventually became synonyms for brute strength and power, and their name was invoked in connection with massive masonry. They were often pictured at their forge.
Massive Masonry - Free Masonry connection...doubtful...
Good find Intrancer...
Hey, Thrasher...finally another Steropes!
Hey Thrasher, I just added that info to the main post! I'm going to put up a poll too to track Lost ARGs group tallies, but the blog flux server is down right now.
I'm a Steropes and I didn't use the cheat.
Do you know how long it has been since I have been mentioned on the main post? Or even contributed something other than "hello?" Thanks!!
Steropes Unite!! If we are indeed cyclopes I want us to shoot frickin lazer beams from our eyes!! LOL
hmm massive masonry? i wonder if cyclops had 4 toes????????
Oh, I love that idea!! Could be that our cyclops lived on the island or were worshiped by the inhabitants. My brians are really working today!
Old TLEC'ers will enjoy the "brians" referrence from IRC chat!
Personification is direct and explicit in the ascription of life and sentience to the thing in question, whereas the pathetic fallacy is much broader and more allusive.
I think weary street is an example of pathetic fallacy
Oh, wait! Pathetic fallacy describes my second login acct. at DDWY!!!!
Cyclopean vision, the ability to see with two eyes information that is hidden from each eye alone.
like the magic eye books?
OK, it looks like the questions have topped out at 140.
I have reformatted, sorted, and posted them on the front page, for your studying pleasure.
Please to enjoy!
Thanks, dennis!
Two things I noticed on DWY that I didn't notice before
you can't zoom anymore
in your progress, you can highlight the number of Dharma points you have, but you can't paste in a new number (I tried it). The only thing you can do is select all or copy.
thrasher76, you don't make it easy to be your friend on myspace... you better friend Black Swan instead:
www.myspace.com/blackswanwantsyou
Hey, gang, what if the four-toed statute was a Cyclops! LOL
I'm in Brontes and I didn't cheat. :)
sorry maven 10 postss up;)
Wow, you guys are amazing....about waiting, well since I am in Europe the tests come out while Im still off in dream land so when I log in (for example today) I get info on them quite quickly. I read about the cheat and thought about waiting for the questions to be answered before taking the test but honestly that didnt feel as much fun...ok, I was sick of waiting, I admit it!
Anyways, Im still on the fence about the groups and their significance...only thing I found interesting is that polyphemes is the name of a kind of MOTH. mmmmm
Spent the afternoon "dusting" my myspace page. Haven't gone there in over two years!!!Lots of updating to do!
BTW, thanks again Dennis for all the hard work. Welcome all new BSns.
ANM
cyclops have one eye. one "i". the cheat for the test.
brontes no cheat.
inatrancer: Sorry about that!
I have been placed in Steropes...any others in this group?

That's brilliant!!!!
I have only let my extra acct. take the test so far..... brontes/no cheat
ANM, lol "dusting" your myspace
You know this ARG would be a lot more fun if I knew I didn't have to wait a whole other week for another test. I'm ready for a new one already.
I havnt taken the test yet, now all the answers are there I'll have to do some revision tomorrow before I do it :P
intrancer you beat me to it too.
....and their name was invoked in connection with massive masonry. They were often pictured at their forge.
I was going to say making 4 toed statues. :)
Oh shoot I was going to say I'm in Poloyphemus, no cheat.
thrasher76
So far I only see three groups on here.
Poloyphemus
Brontes
Steropes
Made a typo it should be Polyphemus.
Fantastic work on compiling the list of Q&A's, you brave souls.
No wonder it took two weeks to get this ARG started. The surviving savants were in a back room, making up these tests, and typing as fast as humanly possible.
OKAY! I the blogflux server is finally back and I added a poll to the post. Go vote...tell us which group you are in after Test 2.
DO IT...do it now! Please :D
I found this searching Polyphemus.
Polyphemus, the son of Poseidon and Thoosa.... he's another cyclops.
Polyphemus is best remembered for the role he took in Homer's epic poem the Odyssey when he captures the Greek hero Odysseus...
You can read the story.
here
Ange;
Polyphemus-no cheat Test 2
Here's looking at you,kid.
Voted Ange. :)
did it, ange
re:
Who is the speaker of the dialogue "Go now", Mary said? A. Mary B. An Actor C. Woman D. An Unknown Person
It's A. Mary
Mary is the one talking; the "speaker of the dialogue
Polyphemus seems to be unique in it's smaller numbers. takes a village, how do you think you did on the test (and did you finish quickly or not)?
CodysmomI think I went too fast, because I rushed the last one instead of thinking about(i).I got about half right in hindsight.I took it a number of times after that to see how many questions I could answer.Of course only the first one counted.
I just got an email from Hans telling me Test 2 is now available. He stresses that we should continue to accrue Dharma points as they will be part of our assessment,
I just got an e-mail from Hans telling me to go take Test 2. LOL a little too late Mr. Van Eeghen!
It is very specific about the test guidelines though, and I don't see anything in the source code that jumps out. Maybe this line: name="Alert" content="The Dharma Initiative - Guiding the World to a Bitter Tomorrow - BS"
I can't remember if that has been in the other source codes?
So... I took Test 2 blindly and I couldn't answer these questions. So I semi-cheated. I googled in another window for the correct answers, but didn't use the 'i' cheat at the end.
I'm in Sterope.
That's new I think, ange. I didn't get the new e-mail yet. Hans is definitely screwed up in time... lol
That's funny with the "Bitter" tomorrow (using the "i" (cheat letter) and BS (I was thinking Broad Spectrum Knowledge Analysis = BS test).
The main post is updated with a link to the mail and the source image.
And with that I am off to bed...the first day of school makes teachers everywhere fall into a coma by 11:00 pm.
Goodnight gang!
Good luck on the new school year, Ange! :-O
ange, good luck with the new school year (and hope you've got some great kids)!
night!
Hope you have a great class this year, Ange! Thanks for doing your homework here!
I just got the e-mail from Hans. Does anyone else think this sentence is weird?
I trust you will find these new tasks sufficiently challenging and will embrace the opportunity to grow the Dharma Initiative.
We're growing the Dharma Initiative? like a plant?
Hi everyone - I must admit that when I first read the message in the source code I thought "Black Swans" when I saw BS!
I hate Hans Van Eeghen. He still doesn't send me emails. Last time I didn't receive one, I took all the blocks off my junk mail so that I wouldn't miss anything. Still nothin'.
I did the same thing you did Takes A Village. I kind of rushed through the questions. I think I was conditioned by the first test to try to finish it ASAP. I'm in Polyphemus, too.
i thought the message was black swan too.. XD
y'know..since..the message was "negative" and its "BS"..haha..
but..now i'm leaning to codysmom's post there..hmm..
scoutpost, are you signed in for emails on your profile on DWY?
Good Morning All
It does seem funny that Hans' emails always show up a day after the fact. I guess he's stuck in time. March has 32 days for him and it seem August does too.
Thanks Codysmom, I have not been on myspace in forever. I sent the request.
He guys this is kind of old news but since Black Swan is being talked about again I thought I post this thought.
I've been keeping notes on the game for reference points and somehow deleted them and can't find them. Anyway I've been going back over the old post and Maven said this
...This is all I took away from the Black Swan Theory:
In Nassim Nicholas Taleb's definition, a black swan is a large-impact, hard-to-predict, and rare event beyond the realm of normal expectations. Taleb regards many scientific discoveries as black swans—"undirected" and unpredicted. He gives the rise of the Internet, the personal computer, the first world war, as well as the September 11, 2001 attacks as examples of Black Swan events.
And codysmom said this
...Last night I put in a link to:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Counterfactual_history
which I found while reading about the Black Swan Theory. Counterfactual history "seeks to explore history and historical incidents by means of extrapolating a timeline in which certain key historical events did not happen or had an outcome which was different from that which did in fact occur." I'm wondering if this is what the DI wants to do; to find a key historical event and change it by using their time-travel abilities?
So I am agreeing with these two ladies.
I think the large impact hard to predict and rare event beyond the realm of normal expctation is Time Travel.
And that Chang wants to use this to change the history of the purge.
Still not sure what involement we recruits will have in this yet though.
i don't get what this new source code sentence is a about?? anyone else understand the importance of this that could explain it to me? i don't get how its supposed to be alluding to the cheat, either, but there we go.
someone said something about the 4 toed statue being a cyclops; i read yesterday, think it was at dark, that this has already been theorised before, as cyclops are sometimes said to have 4 toes on one foot and 3 toes on the other. so i think that maybe its likely; a good guess.
Wow....guys did one of us do the whole "DI guiding us to a BItter tomorrow-BI"!!!!!That would be awesome!
ANM
ahh never mind i get the source code message now; just being slow haha. what a stupid message, can't they give us something more important; that leads somewhere?! getting seriously bored of the lack of stuff going on...
oh and btw; how desperate do the DI sound from that email to get more recruits?!!?
BS...sorry...or perhaps whomever wrote the e-mail has heard of our little ensemble and took the opportunity to address us....yeah right!
ANM
would be funny ANM, hehehehe. don't think its the case though, somehow. could be more than we think, though; thats the second time 'Ruckusguy' has used 'BS' in his communications with us. and the second time for 'Bitter.' More of a message in there somewhere??
Could be...at this point things dont seem to connect in any way so its hard to tell wheteher we should keep looking for clues or take these messages at face value...well Im off to lunch, be back in a breeze!
ANM
Heheh, yeah Codysmom, the way the word "grow" is used is awkward. That terminology has been used in business since the dot-com era, as in "grow your business". I've always hated it. :-p
I really like your Counterfactual History thoughts, Sayidsgirl. It does sound right on target to Chang's vid.
Okay, did this happen to anyone else? I wanted to preview the test before I took it, so I took Test 2 without signing in. When I was done, I signed in, and clicked on My Progress - and I had a score registered for Test 2! It said the test was completed and I was in Brontes. How is that possible? Or fair? :)
@melissa_lossa Im afraid when it comes to D(D)WY and Hoodlum, possible and fair kind of lose their meaning
ANM
ha - so true!
melissa_lossa
Sorry you had that happen to you. I took the test without logging in because I was in a rush to do it and forgot. I figured my test wouldn't count and was kind of upset because I figured the next test would probably be harder. So I checked my progress and it counted.
Which means if the first try on the first test counted too I got a terrible score before the cheat. And I didn't cheat on this one because I didn't know it had another cheat in it. Didn't stop to think about it.
I did the same thing - I just kind of breezed through the first time, without paying much attention to what I was doing. Guess I learned my lesson!

Wouldn't it, though? Whoever is putting these things in the source codes should get hold of Black Swan group. They would certainly fit right in:) In fact, that's why I made the myspace.... a place they could contact us.
capcom, thanks for the info on the use of the word "grow" in the business world
thrasher76, you're in!

No kidding! Maybe we're SUPPOSED to get mad at the new DI recruitment... I know I am... Why would they need so many people? If it was Mittlewerk, he'd say so they can weed out 30% to kill them for their virus!
Someone from darkufo comments said maybe BS = Bad Science
Getting back to that Counterfactual history thing that I found while researching "Black Swan", it is all hypothetical research since nobody can actually go back in time and change things in reality.
BUT if you had the ability to time travel, you could do it for real. That's why I thought it might tie in with all this. It could also be a reason for the new DI needing so many people. They may need us to be the ones to "change history" (and thus change the factors of the valenzetti equation), but whoops... that try didn't work... we'll just leave them back in time and go get more people to give it another shot. They would love a huge number of people to be able to try over and over again.
To think we must wait a whole week for another 30 sec test...ugh...well, I think I'll hop out to the movies. Anything's better than all the Non-updatedness...
ANM
Good idea ANM! Don't forget to stop by Black Swan myspace. I put in a new blog for complaining:)
I just took the test on my primary DDWY acct. I think I got them all correct, it took 32 sec. and I used the "i" cheat, I'm in steropes.
I'll be gone over the long Labor Day weekend, but try to check in if I can..
Happy Labor Day weekend, everybody!
codysmom
Have a nice Labor Day weekend.
Yes, everyone enjoy your Labor Day Weekend. I'm sure you won't have to worry about missing anything at DWY!
With all the cheating tips at DWY, it makes me wonder if the DI is made up of cheaters, too! And what would that say about their management? LOL
I've tried the test three times, with three different users:
Once without knowing anything about it.
Once with just answering questions as they came and using the cheat.
Once looking up all the answers before answering, not using the cheat but selecting the correct answer in the final question.
In all three cases I am in the Brontes group !
LOL Zort!
We're probably just categorized by our birthdates or alphabetically or something ridiculous like that.
Everyone in the US have a fun and SAFE weekend.
DDWY won't let me log in. I'm ready to take the test now. If I wait, I'll forget all of the answers.
I've avoided having a myspace account for a long time now. I'm going to set one up so I can participate in the Black Swan Initiative.
arrrrgh.
Have a great Holiday weekend Codysmom, & everyone else.
Codysmom, your Black Swan my space page is looking great.
I think by now Hans must be walking around with a piece of paper stuck on his back, that says HACK ME.
You know, there is a little statistical thought which will be interesting to play out over the course of this.
We were all grouped together after the first test. Then split 50/50 after the second. And then split into (roughly) additional thirds (giving 6 groups) with the third.
If you carry this out and just do a simple linear distribution on a population of 2000 people, by the time we get through 10 tests, the "groups" would only have four people each.
THAT could be kind of interesting.
The way we may know if that is where the path is leading is: if after the next test, there are four possible sub-groups and we are all evenly distributed within them. Then we could surmise that the process may continue that way through the remainder of the tests.
Ugh...can you tell I'm bored?!!?
torifan
you may be bored but you have a very good point the math stands up no matter how many people start (within reason)
very interesting!!!
Test links aint workin?!!!Could something be happening?

I just tried it and it worked for me. I would say, clean out your cookies or something.
is it normal to have completed both test yet have 0 dharma points???
yeah that's normal 2costa. you have to take test 1 then click on the button that says recruit a friend (or something like that) then the friend has to take the first test and then sign up to get a profile for you to get 10 points. It's 10 points per friend that you get to sign up and take the tests
Morning all, it is getting quiet again after the test.
zort70, HUH!!! WHAT DID YOU JUST SAY??? ;)
This ARG sure has long lulls...nothing like TLE!
Does Hoodlum not understand anything about momentum? It's really going to be hard to hold the attention of people for 5 months going at this pace. Hopefully they have more up their sleeve or else I'm just going to wait until December and take all the tests at once. ;O
