Hans Van Eeghen has sent us another e-mail (view it here) telling us to go on over to DWY and take Test 4. There does not seem to be any hidden messages in the email source, but it does talk about how some of us have enthusiastically embraced the "Recruit Created Assessments" (RCA). It also says that some of us will be eligible for promotion to the position of "Instructor" in the recruitment programme.*UPDATE: The Lost ARGers quizzes have been updated as of 9/14. You can view them in THIS POST.

Just tried that supposed print screen cheat and it doesn't work for me. I wouldn't be surprised if there is a second cheat though; we had 2 for test3 after all.

I'm pretty sure that my 6th grade carrier monkeys have given me the Bubonic Plague so I'm not sure how many quizzes I'll do today, but I have a list so I'll poke at them.
Also, posted this last night...I find that DWY freezes every time when I take quizzes in Firefox, but IE never freezes. People having troubles might want to switch browsers for the quizzes.
As for a cheat, I wonder if we need to look at the language in this new e-mail for a clue? For example This new test will assess your ability to formulate imaginative solutions to a range of conundrums seems weird. That's not what test 4 did at all, it was a multiple choice quiz.
yeah but all the questions in test4 were kind of like puzzles; they weren't trivia like test2, for example.
It is almost a lateral thinking test, i.e. the question has an alternative meaning to the one that immediately springs to mind.
e.g. What gets wetter the more it dries ?

Instantly when I read that question I thought of something getting less wet because of the word "dries" but the answer is "A Towel" becuase it is used to dry the person using it and in so doing gets wetter itself.
But some questions are just logic questions and some are language based so it is a bit mixed, but it isn't a general knowledge one for sure.
I've just updated the title of the new post as I re-read the email and saw that Hans had said that some of us had demonstrated that we can think outside the octagon.

aurelie - yes it does sound like Hans is hinting at the "cheats" that are available, that would seem to mean that they are cheats the DI know about and sanction.

Dennis, I have'nt seen one anywhere.
Although the questions are the same the order of the answers seems to be randomised.
I think Hans and Mittelwerk are in on it together. I used to think "Good luck my old friend Hans" was a snide remark, but maybe they really ARE old friends and Mittelwerk is telling Hans that he's ready. They could be putting in the cheats together, some from Hans some from Mittelwerk. That would explain the different cheats (even explain why some browsers work better thatn others for the different cheats. There's Hans, using ie and Mittelwerk uses firefox:)

I think the practical reason is that everyone complained when the first test emails went out, because the servers were overwhelmed, so why invite more people?
It seems like they are waiting a day to send the emails out, so the hard-core fans (like us) can go take the test before the email people get there.
Kudos to them. With the "make your own test" feature, they have really gone from zero to hero IMO.

You may be right, but I don't think so. Surely as slow as this game is going and the fact that the website says right on it in it's what's this section that it's about weekly tests. Even the non-hard core players know when it's going to update.
I think people right now just aren't that excited about rushing to the website to see what's next. So the servers aren't being overwhelmed.
Also they may have upgraded the site to address that issue.
I feel the way the emails are being released is part of the game but I could be wrong on that.
Whether the release of the e-mails is part of the game or not, the bigger question is: Are Hans and Mittelwerk in on it together? I would like to know your thoughts...

we don't even know for sure that mittlewerk is involved, only that whoever is setting up these cheats for us has used his name; why have they done that? what are they trying to point us towards? warning us maybe? It could be mittlewerk himself, but i doubt it. Probably still out there, nearby somewhere.
I think its likely that Hans could be not all he seems and perhaps is secretly involved in some kind of black swan rebel group; maybe he is helping us but trying to cover up the fact away from his superiors; does he really believe in the new dharma initiative?

No run on gas here. But I don't live in a big city and I'm pretty far from Ike. Although we'll probably get rain from him in 4-5 days.
Maybe it's because the shut the oil rigs down in the gulf and the prices will probably spike. People are probably trying to get it before that happens.

I don't use wiki or cheat on the tests. For 1. It takes to much time and I'm lazy. lol That's why I procrastinated on making a test, plus I wasn't sure I could make one challengigng enough. 2. I like to see how well I can really do on these tests it fun.

lost2010, what a fun and imaginative test! I really enjoyed that one. It should be in the included "official" tests in my opinion. It reminds me a bit of playing the game Myst (yeah, I know). :o
As far as browsers, I'm using Opera. www.opera.com It seems to handle java and memory issues much better than Firefox. I just started trying it out a few days ago.

Emerald, thanks for checking the Print Screen key. If this helps, it appears the way to slow/stop time is to repeatedly hit the key, not continuously hold it down. Also, I am wondering if perhaps it is supposed to be held down "outside the octagon"? I didn't get much info from the person who said it worked, but I'm still trying to gather more info.

Lost2010, FWIW, today in the Knoxville newspaper, frontpage headline said that Knox is going to have a shortage of gas. Low octane was all out when I ran out to get some this a.m. I suppose there's nothing left but high-test now, since the station was very busy when I went. Rumors put it at $5.00 per gallon very shortly. WTH.
capcom- It was at $4.00 per gallon around noon here and had gone up $.20 since 7:30 am this morning. The lines are unreal - - and they get worse the closer you get 'to town'.

Also, I have a question. I was reading JoPinionated's blog and she mentions that you get 50 Dharma points only if registered users score 50% or better on your quiz. Is this true? I don't recall that in the video or on the progress page. Although I have been hooped up on cold pills for two days so if it was there THAT'S my excuse.

@anonymous yep, apparently Hoodlum realised recruits had been using a cheat to recruit friends and corrected the glitch (or something along those lines). However the board leaders already had so many DP that even with this "make-your-own-tests" for 50 DP each it will be hard to knock the down!

This might help you though, I add new tests to the bottom of the list, unless someone already has a test posted. In that case their new test is added with their name, under the ones they have already submitted. For example, ANM has eleventeen tests ;), her newest is the last under her name.

As far as points go I made most tests with my 1st account and only one with my 2nd (which no one has taken so far) to see if there really is a difference. However I dont think my 5 tests will get me even close to the guys on the board although hopefully all this "extra-task" nonsense will be available to us all.

A thought, maybe it's true you have to score 50 points on the test before the person gets any Dharma points. Because if ANM's # 5 test is on her 2nd account I only got a 40 on it.

Re; points: True Sayidsgirl, it does make sense that it wouldn't be a good idea to make the tests really hard for each other to get good percentages on. Make them interesting and to encourage thought sure, but not to make them difficult for the sake of difficulty. Not for this purpose. JM2C
You guys are absolutely right (and I apologise again if any of my tests were hard, I used wiki to make them and expected everyone else would. Now I know that not to be the case!) but Hans/Hoodlum should have let us know that. Seriously every game has a cheat and now our own tests must follow misterious rules that aren't made public!?

I agree. If it's true like it says in JoPinionated's blog as ange posted above. If you want to recieve Dharma points the tests shouldn't be to difficult. On the test I've taken I've gotten 50/50 on the scores above and below 50%.
So that would mean I only gave half of people any points. Of course I'm sure there have been others who have scored 50 and above when I didn't and vise versa.
That's assuming that Jopinionated's blog is correct.

Mine shows that 8 people have taken it but I've only got 350 points so there's a glitch in there somewhere. I'm pretty sure most people would have gotten at least 50% on mine.

Yes, ANM. When I link to it, and that thing swings around with the intructions, it says on the bottom that, "When a registered recruit completes the test for the first time [the test creator] gets 50 Dharma points."
I suppose that we can read that literally, but how knows? I guess that we'd better, just in case.

I didn't even know you could see how man people took your test. I was dividing my score by 50 and assumed that was it. lol
Now that I've gone and looked I see it now.
Oh and mine doesn't match up either.
If the 50% rule is correct and it seems to be. Then only 2 people have gotten below 50% on mine.
But sayidsgirl, you got 30% on my BSWY account test and the points were in fact added...30<50 and still your test counted...so the 50/50 thing doesnt work every time¿?

Okay, I just read all of the Quiz pages from screen shots, and I looked at a test link and read the "rules" there. Not one place does it say that participants need a 50% pr better for you to get points. What it does say is this, "When a registered recruit from Dharma Wants You completes this test for the first time ____ receives 50 Dharma Points." like Capcom posted.
Also, HERE is a screencap of the page that told us how to create the tests. Note it says nothing about the 50% rule either.
I have had 14 people take mine and I have 610 points (minus 10 for one person I recruited).
So...I'm inclined to think that our results are another glitch in the system at this point.

It makes more sense that it's just the way it's stated on the DDWY site. You can look at how many people total took your test and then how many times it's been taken, showing you if your test is interesting enough for people to take more than once. I may even show how many people have tried to take their own tests.. just to show Hans who's trying to cheat?
ok...so we are all missing points right now....another glitch in the software ? I mean missing 100 points (ange's case) is not a small thing....Im missing 600+ so there.....

Okay gang, I updated the list with three more quizzes. I'll add more later today if people make/post them. Also, I've been Facebook messaging with JOpinionated and she edited her post about the 50% rule...ALTHOUGH I still think something fishy is going on with our points!

Something is definitely fishy with the DP totals. I've had 37 users take my 3 tests which would equal 1850 (plus I had 10 DPs to start with). One test was done 24 times with 18 users. So I don't think they're counting if you take a test more than once. It shows 1760. Somewhere I've lost 100.
Just jumping on a thought here...maven, ange, has either of taken her own test(s)??

ANM, that happened to me once! Even worse, it took me down to 0 points after I tried a cheat I read at dark's... but it all came back. whew..... thought they found out about me! lol!

Well maybe we are missing DPs for everytime we have taken our own tests!I tried (cant remember how many times though) just to see if in fact it was a cheat (which its not)....just a thought though.

Ok, I'm certainly not complaining, but I seem to have got 50 dharma points for every time someone has done my Pink Floyd test. I have 300 points, 6 users have done the test and I had none before. So maybe we do get 50 points each time a new user plays the test?
