«Oldest ‹Older 201 – 273 of 273Hi All,
First time I've been on since the chaos this morning.
Did many of us get them? I thought that the fact it was here and on U.K time would have meant that it sold a little slower. Can't believe all the reports that it's already on ebay. This is mad!!
I was at work at the time so I couldn't be as attentive as I was last week, but I did notice that someone posted the URL in the chat room. As soon as they did tonnes of people with generic usernames logged off, so obviously they are using it as a resource to get the URL.
Just wanted to check in anyway and congrats to those genuine fans who picked on up, it looks great.
I'm not sure what the rules are, but wouldn't it be better if the URL was kept a little quieter?
I don't know, as I guess there must be genuine fans on there. I've only known about this for a couple of weeks, but tried to help out where possible, like virtually everyone who posts here.
It's funny but I had a dream last night that when you clicked the buy it now button it took you through to a blue and white web page where you had to answer 10 multiple choice lost questions before you checked out! I guess that would be a little excluding to implement though!
Hi Drew -- love the print, and I agree with those who have said one of the best in the series. Can't wait to see it *in person*.
The print releases are going faster and faster, so I was glad to be able to snag this one.
Thanks for dropping in!
how about a email blast for people that are really lost fans ? send the link out to only people you know and trust, let everyone else find it on their own. Just a thought anyway. ;-)
I must admit, I was torn on this one. The art is so beautiful and I bet in person that this print is simply stunning!
I've got 2 prints already and that's 1 more then I said I'd get! Congrats to everyone that was able to get one of these babies, I'm positive it will look stunning on your wall!
I definitely agree with you Masheen that 'The Hatch' 'The Smoke Monster' and 'Walt's Kidnapping' are by leaps and bounds the most intricate artwork of the 11 prints shown.
OK, about the forgeries. There is a forum where I lurk that has been making hi-res reduplication's of some of the less intricate prints: 'The Swan Station' 'Locke's Secret' and 'The Crash' have all been recreated to my knowledge. I don't this was done out of maliciousness but rather as a frustrated reaction to fast sell out times. So yea, don't get burned on eBay.
I say leave LostARGs the way it is or else as someone said, if you make it more tech-heavy, those Lost fans without the tech-means will lose out. It won't keep all of the EBs or Ebayers away, they will just utilze whatever sideways means we try as well.
My guess is one of the reasons why the posters are selling out so fast is that there is a first-served-gets-a-prize element. It's the oldest trick in the book to get something to sell fast. Not saying that's why TPTB are doing it, I'm just saying that's the typical knee-jerk consumer result of those conditions. If the give-away was random, the situation would be entirely different most likely. JMHO.
Back later when my wrists have recovered.
WOW DREW!
Thank you! I liked it from the moment it went up. But it is always soooo much more rewarding to see in person. I cant wait.
pop by My DCaaPB print site in a week or two after the print makes it through the postman. I am betting you are going to get a glaring review. And if you haven't gotten to see hi-res pics of your peers prints so far, you can head over there anytime.
& Zort.
In case you missed it over on DarkUFO repost:
Zort! sooooo happy you got one this round. You really are a champ and a gem of the community. Your service deserves praise.
most people already have the urls and every week it gets easier to just check the ones remaining. so keeping it quiet isnt going to work all that well.
since they let you get to the url before putting it on sale, it just makes a bottleneck. if the sale went live right away instead of giving everyone five minutes to get the url and start f5 ing, it might help.
who knows, you really can blame the quick sellouts on any one group at this point.
Cheers for the link, it's good to see some of the other prints. If the print job on mine is anything to go by, i can't imagine a foot was put wrong anywhere. Really great work from the printers.
Incidently, since someone asked, my print is 24" x 15".
Again, thanks for the warm reception of it.
Drew, if you're still here- GREAT job with this. After I bought the Smoke Monster I said I was done, and I was true to my word until 5 AM this morning.
You've made a liar out of me, but I couldn't be happier. Excellent work.
Zort, you got one? Awesome! :-D Must have missed that notice earlier.
If all the url's hadn't been released, then only the people who went to the reveals would have known where to get the poster. I think that this was initially supposed to be part of their reward for going. They could buy the poster without any competition and then let us all know what the url was. Now, they barely have enough time to get back to their computer's before it's sold out.
Sorry for making you lie, but i'm glad you picked up the print.
Hope you all enjoy it as much as i enjoyed making it. It's great to be part of such an awesome series.
It means a lot to hear from you Drew, in return. :-)
Howdy Drew. I love the print, but unfortunately my fingers were not very fast at 4am this morning and I missed out.
Im curious though, how much time went into this masterpiece, if you don't mind my asking?
Also, I love the colors here. The green/blue/yellow combo is sweet. Especially on a scene of a fire lit ocean night. :)
Anon, the hub is updated with the URL well before "on sale now" happens, and often before the URL can even resolve. Getting the URL has never entailed more than following the hub page at dcaapb and participating.
:)
Very nice print Drew! Thanks for contributing to our LOST memories and for dropping by!
Wow, what a night! It was a lot of fun. I'm a wreck this morning!
Awesome that some of you guys got the poster, but how sad that it went so fast and those dang flippers are still out there.
Thanks to Drew for stopping by and showing concern for the true Lost fans!
Drew, thank you for visiting us and taking the time to read our comments.
We all have wonderful things to say to the artists, and we do say them...but it is nice to know the message of appreciation occasionally does reach the targets of our praise.
I wasn't following closely enough to see when the Hub clue updated with the URL, does it actually always go up before the site goes BUY NOW?
I was at work last week and had lots of issues getting any URL to work, so actually just clicked on Frame 10 and it took me directly to the print page, which is not the case this week.
They could change the amount of time between the URL reveal and when it goes BUY NOW -- that would probably throw some folks off. But then, you you'd REALLY have to be glued to your computer.
Wow, thanks Drew for stopping by. Your the 1st artist for the series to do so, I believe. It really means a lot. Thanks again for contributing!
Finally! Just got caught up on comments. MEL, I hope you can get one, that really sucks. Congrats to all our LOST ARGers that got one. To EBay flippers that got one - Kharma baby, Kharma.
It's been a pleasure to stop by and hear what people think. It's always good to get feedback on projects, and this was a fun one to do. Like i said before, i'm really glad people like it. If you like it one the screen, i'm sure you will be over the moon with it in person.
Thanks again for the kind words,
Drew
The url never made it to the DCPB site for the Transmission until after it was sold. Not sure but I think it was the same for The Swan.
When they weren't selling out so fast they would make it to the site before hand though. I'm not sure about this one because I was asleep. :) I think that what was intended based on the blurb at the top of the hub page.
But the end result, a.k.a. the coolest part of the fun, can be achieved just by staying in your house....because everyone will have a chance to get to the end result, as long a s you're online and stay tuned to this website. We'll give you everything you need to know...
Hi Drew it was a great print. Glad you enjoyed doing it for the LOST fans.
I however just couldn't get up at 5:00am to try and get this one.
It has always gone up before buy now as far as I can recollect.
The clue prior basically is telling you when you need to start refreshing the hub page. They have had someone from either the gallery, go merch, or disney covering every event and posting the image of the link - just in case our peeps dont make it to tweet about it.
I've got to finish catching up, but so sorry for all those who didn't get the poster. I hate that they're selling out so fast, I guess there's just so many people placing an order at the same time that they're selling out in seconds.
Guess I won't count on getting any more posters and just consider myself lucky if I get one I want.
The whole ebay/flipping thing is sooooo frustrating, but I just can't imagine there's really anything effective we can do about it. I agree with Zort and others though that we shouldn't buy from them. I think the prices will continue to come down if people just ignore it for now. I'm really surprised that so many of us in the US (much less flippers) were up at those early hours! I think we all need some psychological counseling! ;)
I'm going to finish catching up on the comments...
lol we get up at 5 am every morning. My bf drives the bus and when the snow flies, we'll be up at 4 am or earlier. Yuck !
yep drew,
the current estimate of the sellout time that I am aware of is 55 seconds.
I think that is a little feedback you can walk around smiling about.
:)
@scout & Zort - Agreed on not buying the flipps. Hell, theres no WAY I would spend the money they ask for anyhow. I am happy for what Ive collected so far, and will just do my best to get the remaining ones I enjoy.
Overall, this has all been in GREAT fun and I can't complain. :)
Thanks again to Zort for the awesome job on the site.
I'm not sure about this one because I was asleep and I'm not sure about the Swan because I didn't check it until later. But I know the Transmission url did go up on the DCPC site until after it sold out. People were talking about it saying things like it's still isn't up.
Trying to get sleep after the big reveal was a bad idea! Dragging today!
Congrats Rev Milo on being first and to the other purchasers! Looking forward to another fun reveal (that is hopefully a little later than 5am!).
Frame9 url still isn't up in written form. It's 88keys song which has the url in his song.
Sayid, I could swear I saw the URL before on sale on the transmission, and that people that were having a problem were having a caching problem (possibly caused by something about the hub) but closing and re-openning your browser fixed it.
At least that is what I remember happening, but at this point, I think I even dream print release scenarios and get things all muddled up.
lol Rev Yeah I know with these different times and how quickly things are going now it's understandable. Glad you were able to get your print.
I also agree that Losties should hold off buying the resales as long as possible, if the copy rumors are really true. Even though it's mostly wrong for the artist and orignal sellers, it's one thing to buy a copy for the original price, but to buy a copy at the astronomical markups we've seen...well, if they are fakes, and most likely not well-done fakes, it's just awful.
At the very least, if possible we should wait until all the sold poster numbers are recorded to determine if copies are being sold -- and keep track of the resale print unumbers when they aren't blacked out. Having said that, I will get of my arse and post my Locke number here today so someone can put it on the SpoilerTV forum (I don't feel like becomming a member there).
@ (n) - what forum are you talking about? could you provide a link?
Big thanks to all our Glasgow Losties that went to the reveal!
And I am sad for the Losties that wanted to/tried to buy the print and missed it.
Rev- I think I am ready to join your cadre. This poster insanity is getting to be too much to handle alone. I'll DM you.
and Zort- great job as always. And congrats on getting the print!
xoxo - malice.
ps- just picked up my dharma jumpsuit from the embroidery place. I'll post pics late tonight or tomorrow! :)
now back to sleep... i mean, work... ;)
@comix - awesome on the jumpsuit!
Def want to see the pics. I considered it after you showed me where to get the patch, but I couldn't pull it together in time.
Luckily I have a friend who always throws a big "Nightmare Before Christmas" party at xmas time, and everyone dresses in Halloween costumes for it. So Ill get my stuff together by then.
Scout, frame 9's next to last clue told you where to watch online and at what time. The URL was there as promised, in text form and in the song before buy now and before on sale soon happened I think.
As I said, watch the hub and participate is the way to get the URL.
They "sort of" hand it to us. Fanatical monitoring and group participation is key.
We know these are going to sell out pretty fast at this point.
I spent an hour streamlining my machine to a simple addon free browser and got all my cc info in place before taking a nap, and waking up an hour prior to when the Hub said I needed to pay attention.
I was like the 20th person to leave the chat after someone had posted that the URL was found at the FP, so by far not the first person to the print page.
I want us all to succeed, but being calm and waiting regardless of the URLs being tossed around in the chat worked for me. Oh and I followed the tweeps that did the awesome job of going to FB and reporting it back.
just my experience, focus, participation, and preparedness was really the key IMHO
RE forgories: I'd love it if someone is making quality reprints available at a decent price (and selling them honestly as reprints). There's no way I'm paying $700 for The Crash. I've thought about selling the two I've acquired so far to use the money for The Crash, but it still seems ridiculous.
Rev
So the url was at 88keys blog page? I didn't see it because as soon as I heard it in the song I left the page.
But it never did get posted at DCPB. Which I think alot of people thought it would be.
Just got back from the NYC Forbidden Planet store. They have no swag.
Personally, I'm happy with the 3 I have. They were early in the series, so the *#&$ hadn't hit the fan yet! I'm definitely nervous about Poster #16...that's probably one everyone will want. Hope it's a "mosaic" of all the prints and it has an unlimited run!!!!
yep at the bottom of the lyrics, I clicked play on the song and started listening and reading along, and voila there it was, right at the very end of the blog post in a format I could cut and paste.
As there are nearly 250 comments here now I've created a NEW POST.

I know what you mean, the Hub page itself didn't get updated with the URL and I'm not sure the main page linked to the transmission web site before it was sold out.
but it was on the 88-Keys website.
Tyson has a lot to answer for :-)

"time to recap?!
If I had to rate all posters so far solely from the art/screen print angle I'd say
3. Walt's kidnapping
2. The Hatch
1. Smoke Monster
On the other hand if I look at them purely from the L O S T angle my list looks like this
3. Locke's secret
2. The Crash
1. Rousseau's Transmission
Does that make any sense? What do YOU think?"
Good list. I definitely agree with your second list. Still thinking about the first (screenprint-oriented) one, but it's close.
reAnimated - this is the website where i bought my jumpsuit.
https://www.grayandholtclothing.com/ProductDetails.asp?ProductCode=62001KH
I had originally bought one on ebay- but the seller ran out of the size i ordered, so i was scrambling and bought one off amazon, a size medium. but when it arrived, it was GIGANTIC. i'm 5'2" and about 140 - it would have cost a fortune to get it tailored. Also it was really thin and cheaply made. Luckily, my sleuthy gf found the above website. They offer a higher quality jumpsuit and i got the 34 Regular- and it fits great. Definitely a great deal. Good luck!
Missed it, got up when I happened to wake up and was about 15 minutes late, slept like crap on top of it. Oh well...More money for other stuff.
I am so sorry for Mel, that sounds like the worst. I am sure someone will be able to help you out. If I had ended up with one I would have given it to some of the people here who wanted it so badly.
And it was so nice Drew stopped by to say hello! How cool is that.
lostsailors, it was very cool he stopped by, even cooler that he didn't get freaked out by us and stayed around for a while.
I have a little issue here, a confirmation email form this morning, money taken from my account (no cancellation email) but my account says "you order nothing").
Could someone please give me the CS email to tyson, my hands are shaking.
Well I sure do want to thank, once again, Zort and everyone who got our scottish friends twitter feeds together and organized the chat.
I may not post very much but you folks have gotten me the Hatch and now this one (I've been following along since after Crash and have only felt compelled to buy these 2 times). I put the hatch up in my kitchen and stare at it every time I walk by.
So! Please keep us silent lost lovers in mind if Lost ARGs goes underground. (pretty please?)
I must give out my condolences & best wishes that Mel can get hands on this poster. It's time's like these I wish I had gotten it so I could give it away, but that wouldn't really have helped as I would've just taken it away from someone else.
More than happy to drop by. Thanks for all being so nice.
Does anyone have a link to any photos or info from the launch in Glasgow? If i'd have known what was going on, i'd have made the trip up myself.

Drew,
Here's some stuff that might be what you're looking for:

http://veryweirdguy.livejournal.com/2041.html
Hope that helps
Drew you must become a regular. ;) You are awesome. And you have me checking out more of your other work. Congrats on having your poster go so fast. And is it okay that I call you by your first name?
Also I forgot to say thank you to those who went to the event to get our URL and Lottery Ticket as well. Without them we wouldn't have the full experience, or, the URL. Many many thanks everyone. Zort as always.
Yes, a round of thanks to all those who helped!
Thanks for the tips! Nice to see what was going on.
I'm make sure to drop in round these parts from time to time.
Thanks to everyone again.
I'd be happy to share, but I would like it if Zort gave me permission first. Some people look down on this kind of thing and I don't want to upset or offend anyone. Needless to say it's a huge forum that the public can read, it's not some kind of underground thing.
Hey i was wondering if anyone that went to FB for the reveal and managed to get a poster
..Two things of this day gladden my heart and give me hope. I did receive Transmission today. Different from what the computer showed and better for it. Go Merch got it to my door showing that they can get it right.
Second event that gives me hope, is an offer of Kidnap to me by the one who brings sleep. The offer is more than i can endure at this moment, I am in need of sleep. I was contemplating giving up in my wearyness,,not because of any buyers, but because I had placed too much trust in the seller,,to base hope of a complete collection on. All the hints have been there all along and growing more obvious by the frame. I will consider my self highly fortunate if I am successful in buying any more prints.
I am highly fortunate to have been considered by our Administrator, Zort,,worthy enough for him to extend himself as a go between. I am highly fortunate and in great gratitude for the offer,,and for restoring to me, Hope!, from one of our own, the one who brings us sleep. Which Iam in great need of,, so until later,,Good Nite!
MEL
From Drew Millward at forum.expressobeans.com:
"It's actually pretty cool to hear what people like and dislike. This certainly seemed to split people (from what i have read this morning), I know full well that my work is not everyones 'cup of tea', and why should it be.... different strokes n' all.
With this print i felt that the way i usualy work, my usual 'style', wasn't really suitable for the project, and really not in keeping with the tone of the show. I suppose you could say i took a bit of a chance, and worked in a different method, and experimented a bit. I wanted something that was darker, and not as 'Millwardish', for want of a better term. I set about making this print in the same way that i would have paintied it. Each layer is drawn by hand and layered up. It was an experiment, and something i certainly enjoyed doing. Perhaps it's not something i'll be doing constantly in the future, but i learned from it and i'm pretty happy with the outcome. The printing job on this probably adds more to it than can be done justice to on screen, but if people ain't into the image, it's fair to say that seeing it in the flesh won't really alter their point of view.
Cheers for the feedback folks!"
Cosmically Yours
Haven't been on since this morning so,
A HUGE Thank You to the people who attended the event today. Even though people don't play by the rules, i appreciate your efforts to keep us informed.
And how awesome was it to have Drew Millward stop by?!!!? Too awesome.
Received Transmission today. Looks great. I am not on SpoilerTV so whoever wants to can add me over there:
alteridiom: 150/300
Thought it was cool I got the halfway mark.
Thought on the posters. They are all supposed to represent "watercooler" moments of the show. There will certainly be at least one next season. So, maybe the last poster will come at the end of the last season and represent something major that happened then. Perhaps in the final episode. Just a thought. So far I now have:
Crash
Transmission
Kidnapping
Very happy with the 3 I have.
Thanks for posting Drew's comment TKI! I hope that he has also read the diverse feelings about the other posters as well so that he doesn't feel like his is the only one that evoked a wide range of reactions, because they all have. Although I haven't read anything adverse about his.
I really admire him as an artist for stepping outside of his usual style and creating a work that would fit the show. While I haven't figured out all of the symbolism in it yet, the style reminds me of the paperback cover artwork of the 1940s-60s, which I love. I also think that he captured the ominous fear vibe of the kidnapping at night on the sea very well.
Capcom, the only adverse thing I've read about this one is that Walt doesn't really look like Walt. He looks like a little white boy.
Other than that minor detail, I think this one is so awesome. I'm tempted to go over to the site that shall not be mentioned, but my credit card disagrees!
Thanks! Even with the "hair"? :o)
Got my Walt's Kidnapping print! It's amazing in person!
