Join "Lost" bloggers Liz Kelly and Jen Chaney this fall to discuss "Lost's" third season.
For the Thursday, Dec. 3 chat, Liz and Jen will be joined by a special guest: Paul Scheer, the actor and comedian known for his work on "Human Giant" and FX's "The League," among other things. But "Lost" fans know him best for his role in the recent "Lost" art alternate reality game and for spearheading the Web site damoncarltonandapolarbear.com
The trio will discuss several season three episodes: "D.O.C.," "The Brig," "The Man Behind the Curtain" and "Greatest Hits. Questions about "Lost" art and Mr. Scheer's bond with LindeCuse are also welcome.
Click here to visit the Washington Post Website article about this
There is a link on that page for you to submit a question to Jen and Liz, this may be your chance to ask Paul Scheer that burning question.

We are unable to locate the page you requested.
The page may have moved or may no longer be available?
reading it now. Very interesting.
Continuing decoding discussion from prev post- the address on the biz card for D Presario is 10001. Ones and zeros- is that something in binary code? Math nerds- where are you?
If the Affine Cipher (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Affine_cipher#Weaknesses)is right, then it needs a couple of numbers to fill in the variables? Maybe the binary code gives the numbers needed?
This sounds like the code that Jenson used at the Gallery 88 hunt that was talked about earlier.
If we can find the variables for the cipher formula, maybe the extra numbers at the end of the URL's are what need to be coded back into letters. They would have to be divided into number/letter first though- but only numbers 1 to 26 for the alphabet- so you would know you can't have say a 42.
Here is the working link. Would be neat if this is where the next clue is revealed!
Cosmically Yours
I think it's probably too late to have a reveal tomorrow.
unfortunatly, it doesn't come up with anything in the binary codes. Just this or a square block (don't know if it will translate well here. Here is the site I use so you can see for your self. http://home2.paulschou.net/tools/xlate/
ReverendMilo, here's your chance again. lol
I take it that we'll get our 16th clue here?
He'll probably say the final URL in during (or near the end) of the discussion and then shortly after, for those who are lucky enough to be following the discussion at the time, poster 16 will be available for purchasing.
Either that or there will be a clue of some sort hidden in there.
I'm going to guess the interview is completely unrelated.
JT, 10001 is 17 in 'normal' old decimal. Could this be key you're referring to?
Amy Lynn, I meant Paul Scheer could give the first clue during the live chat at 3PM ET tomorrow (Thursday). Makes perfect (circular) sense to me that Scheer would kick off the last frame just as he did with the whole campaign.
Cosmically Yours
@Kharma, possible, I guess.
Wow! The Washington Post.
Just updated the link on the main page, I'm not sure what happened there.
Zort, I've submitted a question asking Paul if he has any clue where we can find the final frame 16 "Big Red ?" LOST print. And if he owns any prints himself.
They did say they would welcome questions about the ARG. :)
Cosmically Yours
I am worse than a two-year-old. I submitted every WHY question I could think of. 1)Why are only the first three seasons covered in posters? Will there be a second art project to cover final three seasons? 2)Why is there a red question mark in 16th frame? Does this mean the clues for 16th poster will be issued in a different way? 3)Why was each poster issue limited to only 300 copies? Wouldn't it have made more sense to issue a larger run of each print to allow more fans to be able to acquire some LOST art?
I signed each question with my real
identity and real location, so I guess I'll know if they chose to ignore me or not.
Good questions, I wonder how many questions they will get about the ARG, more than the Lost rewatch I'd say.
Ok this may be a stupid question. I read the article but didn't see where we are suppose to go to listen to his interview. Does anyone have a link for it? Thanks
Totally off-topic, but it looks like my lovely state (NY) is about to pass marriage equality this afternoon. Woot! Mr. Friendly can take a husband.
Good for NY
kmfdm11031 - The interview hasn't happened yet so you can't listen yet.
I'm not sure if it is an audio thing or just a transcript.
I'll post the details when we hear about it being published.
@ andalone
I have to defend the artists in regards to making more than 300prints. It's really hard to make a large amount of prints. 300 is a pretty large number as is, especially considering the process that is involved. Think of them less as posters and more as art. These weren't just 'printed' at a printer from a printing machine - someone PHYSICALLY placed the paper into a press, squeegied a color of ink onto the paper, removed the paper, let the ink dry and did this around 300 more times for each print. Then they did the process over again for the next ink. 300 times. Until the print was done. Yeah, there are ways and shortcuts that you can use (overlaying colors to make new ones, printing two prints on one sheet of paper and then cutting the paper), but it's still a lot of work. Asking an artist to do 300 is a feat in and of itself, and is a testament to the artists involved with this.
While I admit, yes, I do wish sometimes that more of a print would of been made, it would be only so I could have had a better chance of getting one (I'm looking right at you, The Barracks). The artists, sadly, have been quiet during this ARG due to contract reasons, but I'm sure that once people hear what they went through then they would understand how special each print is and how much attention went into each.
You can't give that attention to mass produced posters.
*off soapbox*
@Amy Lynn - yay for NY! :)
Does anyone have a picture of the glow in the dark version of Walt's Kidnapping? Or of Jacob's Cabin?
And good thought about Paul Scheer dropping the first clue in the interview tomorrow. Hopefully the first orderer will get their letter soon too...
@Andalone - loved all your questions! :)
@comixguru, I can try to take a picture tonight.
great for NY, even more humiliating for california's failure...
I have linked Washington Post and Paul Scheer to Twitter feed for Frame 16 list.
Frame 16
If you were following before, it's the same, I just change the name and who we are following.
The WP blog with Liz and Jen is always a good read, especially the day after the shows first air.
Hey everyone! Got nothin to say. Just wanted to pop my head in.
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/discussion/2009/11/25/DI2009112502989.html
here an example of live chat transcript
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/discussion/2009/12/02/DI2009120201784.html
here one live now
just for Amy Lynn
@MilkcanRocks - I have no doubt as to the silk screen process being time and labor intensive. And I am very appreciative of the artists' efforts. I love all the prints that I have been able to acquire. The detail is amazing. The prints are some of my most treasured possessions.
My question deals more with why that number of prints was chosen, with only around 190 released for sale to public. I realize the prints would have sold out even with a larger release.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E0ET4O4sOtg
Season 6 promo from ABC
so from what I can tell.
Yes. you can submit questions during the chat time slot. You only see the transcript of the conversation as it happens.
MilkcanRocks - I agree with what you say, it is a difficult process, however I'm almost certain the artists themselves didn't do the printing, from memory it was done by a print house that Gallery 1988 employ.
It was this comment from Drew Milward that confirmed it for me.
I asked a more general 2-part question: since the LFAP has given us artistic interpretation of the Water Cooler Moments, which are their favourite or most memorable WCMs in the past 5 Seasons? And which do they wish to see portrayed in Frame 16?
Also, thanks Zort for keeping up with new contents everyday, especially that DCaaPB frame sequence video. Great video! :)
One reason for the limited release is to make people go crazy for them (worked like a charm). If the posters were printed in batches of 5000 and sold in an open edition, there would not be any where near as much buzz.
And as I've stated before, they (the marketing firm who put this together) are primarily looking to get the show back in peoples mind in preparation for the season six premier.
Am I missing something or just plain stupid? Why is discussing season three episodes? I wonder if we're going to get the kind of poster that Tyler Stout does?
DOC is Sun's pregnancy and Naomi dropping on the island, the brig is others tastic as well as having the black rock Sawyer/Cooper scene. The Man Behind the Curtain is where we see Jacob, Dharma 70's and the mass grave. Then Greatest Hits where we get to see the looking glass blah blah blah.
What I'm thinking is this combination of episodes include many cast members instrumental to the story. Those great characters, who are gone, but not forgotten. Mikhail, Tom, Alex, Danielle, Cooper, to name a few. Maybe the last print will be a round up of what took us to the end of season three.
I think the WP blog is in the middle of a rewatch. They discuss it each week and Paul is a special guest to contribute to the discussion tomorrow.
@ Zort
An artist usually chooses where the printing is done. Some choose to do it themselves (Nate Duvall does his himself - here is a link to him doing a print for the band Gomez http://nateduval.wordpress.com/2009/03/12/printing-process-photos/ ). Some choose to send it to printers that they work with closely. For example, here is a Olly Moss poster being printed at Nakatomi print shop - FYI, Nakatomi print shop = Tim Doyle's shop. http://alifewellwasted.com/2009/12/01/prints-in-progress/
From what I have understood, some sent them out to printers of their choice (like Millard) and some did them themselves, but then they sent the art to Gallery 1988. I could be wrong, but thats what i've garnered.
I missed the google wave discussion earlier (I apologize for slipping it in here but I don't know where else to). I got accepted. Whoa. But I didn't get any wave invites. Of course. Anyway would like to be part of the LOST wave. If I can figure out what this thing is. Weird.
Andalone are you the one who had a knife accident? I had one too at Thanksgiving? Sister thought she had a handle on the handle and she did not.
I am always sooo off topic. I've tried to lay low because of this bad habit. Anyway lots to catch up on but none that involve that 16h question mark.
Eugene is correct. The Post has been following Lost for a long time, and this column is a weekly feature. Except now the columnists are focusing on the "end game."
MilkcanRocks - Thanks for the info.
I love the idea of screenprinting, I'd love to just do one picture of my own to stick on my wall, I think it'd be fantastic! Sadly, no idea where screenprinters are around my neck of the woods. Was hard enough finding a framer!
Can we ask Paul where the hell Thorstens Hatch poster is?
@Milkcan Rocks that is very intersting to know. Just the little I have with doing it (and that's such a small scale I'm not even pretending it's the same) that is a lot of work. A lot. Really cool information. Thanks.
@MeSoCrazy - yep, I am the ginsu juggler. (not really, but it sounds cooler than what really happened.)
I didn't realize they're in S3 rewatch either so wondered the same thing when I saw the episodes they were discussing lol. But both Man Behind the Curtain & Greatest Hits had some great WCMs.
And thanks for the links, MilkcanRocks. The printing process looked interesting!
Perhaps the Frame 16 url is a phrase to be "found" in the transcripts from one of the 4 episodes highlighted in the Scheer interview.
@MeSoCrazy - sorry about your knifing (if these things happen in 3s like celebrity deaths - then I better be careful)
Wow. Sorry to hear about the ginsu kerfluffle for you two.
Kids, keep your knives blade down in the dishwasher. You know what can happen.
Out of interest, is anyone getting a reply from the customer service team lately?
@Martyn... I got one on T-giving.
Cheers Amy Lynn! Trying to change the postal address for The Polar Bear.
No reply as yet!
Polar bear shirts are arrived... They are beautiful :D
@Martyn...I've sent customer service two emails in the past month (one last week) and they have not responding to either. Not sure what's going on with them, I know they probably have hundreds of emails. But at least they were answering us before.
@MilkcanRocks...very interesting stuff! I always wondering what "hand-pulled" meant. Wasn't sure if that term should be taken literally or not. Thanks for the info, gives me a greater appreciation for the number of prints. Though, still wish they printed more...especially for Daniel Danger's piece....
Guess I don't know what the past tense of "respond" or "wonder" are...haha.
Has anyone been able to check wheater or not their Ben Linus poster has shipped yet?
I've emailed customer service a few times as well and I still haven't heard back about where we can check out order status
Soooo, Customer Service Fail then?
@Martyn, were you nice and polite? :)
@Amy Lynn...
I'm English, i'm always polite :D
I'm doubting myself now, I have to go double check I was polite.
@I'mAnnie - I'm wearing mine right now ;)
Will the discussion be available to follow live or will they post a video of the discussion afterwards?
I have a pending charge on my card in the amount of the poster, so I think Ben Linus is shipping...
Yeah, I was polite. Phew!
I'm also wearing said Polar Beer T-Shirt. Love it, except the XL is MASSIVE!!!
Not sure it means anything, but I think the "A POLAR BEAR" on the banner of DCAAPB used to be in blue, but now it's white and snow covered.
Could this be the first hint, like when the colors changed on "AND"?
I submitted a question, about why they chose to release the exact time and location of the reveal as a 'clue'half-way through the game. I know ever since they started it with 'Jacobs Cabin' this whole ARG has gotten so much more frustrating and disappointing. trying to get a poster in under 10 seconds?! Come on! I let a little snarkiness slip in though so who knows if they actually rake the question.
Also, to the NY peeps, no marriage equality for you. They voted it down. Very unfortunate, they need to take a lesson from that kid who won't stand up during the pledge of allegiance. IMHO. Sorry to degress in things not LOST related...
Zort- I've still got an urge to figure out if the extra numbers in the URL's will decode. Do we have a list of them anywhere?
Hi all. Just back from Paris and checking in. Lots to catch up on by the look of it which I'll have to do in the morning as I'm exhausted. Trust everyone is well.
@Lisa, just emailed you!
Oh...and I have a couple of wave invites left if any regular posters are still in need.
@Waffle: Just checked the screen captures I kept, unfortunately the banner was exactly that way since August. The only change happened around Halloween to orange for about a day.
waffle- I see the banner snow as kind of a gray all through the posts and now too.
Just Thinking - I don't think there is a list of the numbers or I havent seen one, but you can just click the links on the main gallery page and they retain the original released URL & #s
Sorry if I misinterpreted your post
ChrisL, am I cool enough?
what's your email OH!
Thanks for checking justanothersky and Just Thinking. Much like "spot the difference", I looked at the banner, and something seemed different, but I guess not. Stupid eyes.
Oh, so now it decides to start using my whole screen name?
Also, I just got Google Wave through another site. Could someone add me to the lost wave? wafflezombie@googlewave.com. Thanks!
Organic- yes thanks- that is what I wanted. Looks like they are on the last 5 posters.
*Yawn*
Right, bedtime for me. I expect to see a clue when I awake tomorrow morning.
Enjoy the rest of your tuesday folks!
@Martyn, I think it's Wednesday.
The Clue wait is very suspenseful this time around....not knowing if it will be the same or different!
@Amy Lynn: Sorry about your state! Embarrassed about my state (California), too! And, BTW, I'm beginning to think along the same lines as you re Wave. It's seems cumbersome and slow. I don't really see the advantages of it. Maybe I'm a slow learner (most likely), but it's still confusing to me. I have enough to check each day: This blog, Facebook and Twitter...
@ Amy Lynn...
Proof that I need to get my ass to bed!
Enjoy the rest of your WEDNESDAY folks! ;)
LT-unfortunately, I probably will have nothing more to add to the List.
Would like to join your artists wave-how is that done?
ChrisL, I could use a Wave invite. Email = ellen dot blackmun at gmail dot com
Thanks!
Sent one, Ellen.
@ LotteryTicket
I need to update my print numbers for the Swan and Walt's Kidnapping - the prints are tucked away trying to be flattened, but I'll add the numbers as soon as I can.
Also, small little addition. Tim Doyle has gone on record that the title of his print that he submitted was "Hurley's Curse". Read it on another forum (don't recall where).
Okay - I am on the "wave" but even after watching the video I am lost. Is there some big group of everyone I should try finding? I have people I have on gmail already, but I tried searching for LT and a few others who are on, but it was to no avail. If there is a group to join and it is easier to add me to it, I am kellykoch32(at)googlewave(dot)com .
Thanks and here's to praying for a clue!!!
I like "Hurley's Curse" better actually.
Kelly: I added you to the Lostie Wavers Meet and Greet Wave.
Thanks Maven! I have a lot to learn about it. It's like a whole new language. Hope to wake up to a new clue tomorrow. Have a good night everyone!
I just got a google account and was wondering if any one knows how to get on wave. Thanks
Wave is a great tool if you have a small number of pepole working on something. Large numbers of people make it very confusing, very fast!
Oh, and for the record, its Thursday!!! ;) lol
My thoughts on The Barracks are now up at Barracks blog post.
its been a long time now, 5 days. are we really gonna get a clue? are there any rumors out there?
I got a wave invite from a friend, but could someone add me to the list for the Wave for "Lostie Wavers Meet and Greet Wave"? Thanks! mwolverine76 (at) gmail (dot) com.
Can someone please add me to the wave? HenryGaleWasHere (at) googlewave (dot) com
Thanks!
Hey All - Been a hectic few days (and that's without any clues) so a little behind.
Zort - love the frame sequence, amazing to see 3+ months in 22 seconds. How time flies.
Lottery Ticket - the articles are great... very insightful & sum up this experience in a clear and entertaining manner.
Not feeling Google Wave just yet... need to spend more time there to get the hang of it.
Finally, throwing all caution to the wind, I've decided to have a little fun, shoot for the moon, & submit questions that could be considered far-fetched during tomorrow's Washington Post's Lost blog. Here's what I've submitted:
Liz & Jen - Thanks for bringing in Paul as your special guest this week. A few questions directed to him regarding the DCAAPB art project and the DCAAPB web site.
1) As we’ve followed DCAAPB, have you followed sites such as lostARGS.com or DarkUFO to see how the fans that post there have taken the clues and run with them (for better or worse)? If so, any thoughts to the sleuthing skills of those involved? We’re all kind of “lost” regarding what we need to do (or not do) with the final red “?” frame - so if you want to tell us exactly what we need to do to get the last print right now it would be greatly appreciated.
2) In your first post on DCAAPB, there were several questions regarding the last season of Lost that you’d hope would be answered including if Vincent was mad at Michael and Walt for leaving him on the island? Do you think Vincent has gotten over it by now? Time supposedly heals all wounds – except for maybe in the case of Jacob and the MIB.
3) There are many Lost fans that have graciously traded posters they’ve purchased with other fans who were not so lucky to purchase a poster they wanted (including myself). In the spirit of the upcoming holiday season, would you be interested in trading an original Damon, Carlton, and a Polar Bear print or another Paul Sheer “original” print for one of the posters I have that you might not have?
Finally, a BIG thank you for spearheading this project – you’ve allowed fans of Lost to become fans of art and vice-versa.
NamARTE!
John a.k.a. JPL on LostARGS.com
just thinking, please email re: List issue. I hope nothing I did offended. lotto dot ticket dot 108 @gmail.com
we are strung across 3 days! and I'm feeling the tension
RobPerrin, I sent you dm via Twitter
I think we will get 'a clue' tomorrow during P. Scheer interview, info posted at top of these comments. Please send in your questions.
The Wave is start to divide us rather than conquer. Hopefully, Zort will have the comments section under "Unsolved Clue" tab working properly soon and we can gather over there to solve Frame 16.
just thinking and all other interested in artist interviews: if you Wave I will add. However, we may get a separate tab here at lostargs where you can contribute questions you would like to ask the artist. (Zort, sorry if I'm speaking out of turn). Any interviews or articles will be the property of The Lost Args and will be posted here for all to read. More information to when allowed.
RobPerrin, your Tweet is very welcoming news.
If anyone has Ben Linus or the Polar Bear and can link me to close-ups, I would appreciate the effort. I'm trying to meet overnite deadline.
Every time I make a 'type' or add 'extra' letters or words in my comments I think CLUE! So, is that an extra 'to' or is "follow" missing. lol
MWolverine & HenryGaleWasHere: I added you to the Wave.
Have no idea how this is going to work....I'm just so used to blogger here when discussing vital LOST issues!
Thank you, Maven!
Maven, thanks from me, too!
LT- no,no, nothing wrong-sorry not to be clear. I just meant I have no new posters and not much chance of getting any looks like. You do a great job.
I know what you mean about multiple forums to communicate. If each one a a different purpose or feature that makes it work best for a function, then it makes sense. But when you start putting the same information in bunches of places it just gets too much. Not sure yet what the Wave might work best for- maybe a meeting of a specified length of time with a moderator setting up a presentation.
Hmmm. Maven, I've got the wave now, but is there something else I need to do to connect with other Lost Argers?
Truth is, I'm much too tired to figure anything else out tonight. Just watched last 2 episodes of V (recorded), and that's it for me.
LT re:unsolved clue section. I like this section as all the clues are there,so it's easy to sift through everything. I agree that with so many places to post it gets a bit confusing. I think it's good to have one place everyone can go to for clue discussion.
I also think it's likely we'll get a clue from Pauls interview tomorrow. Would make sense as he started it all off.
Found this on paulscheer.com for his upcoming show on 12/15 (Lost Art Show) that links to Gallery 1988:
link
Ok, so can someone explain this Google Wave thing to me? What is it...Why are we using it...And can someone send me an invite, :) Thanks.
Whoa, a LOST Art show? I did some research on Gallery 1988 last night and saw that they did a Stan Lee art show about a year ago. Sorry I missed that...may have to take a trip out to Gallery 1988 for this.
A Gallery 1988 LOST Art Show? Wonder if all the posters will be on display? Do you think that's where they all will be "found"?
LT you think there is a clue at the art show- or there is a hub clue?
Second clue is up @Hub - full description of event
OMG....I'm so there! How lucky is it that I'm in the LA area! Doesn't seem fair to the rest of you guys! :(
Fast and furious now.
Oh, dear...I just realized that the 15th is the day my son/daughter-in-law move into their house! I'm sure they'll need help with babysitting! Hope I can get over to Melrose sometime during the week!
So there IS a 16th poster out there somewhere?
Oh, boy, it's gonna be a LONG wait till the 15th, huh? Did they give us so much lead time so we can buy plane tickets? LOL
things we need to look at
Paul Scheer's new velvet painting, this was mentioned in one of the letters, I think?
All 16 in LA means that the 16th will be known by Dec. 15
he mentions weird and 12 different artists that will show paintings. many more are listed on invitation
I don't think the reveal is necessarily the 15th. Just the 16th poster will be there with the rest?
are those figurines in the box?
Can anybody tell what the heck the gray pieces of plastic are in that box? YouTube resolution is WAY too low, I think they're just taunting us. They almost look like prop gun pieces. o_O (And why the heck is Carlton using a plastic comb on Smokey? rofl!)
Bah, it's a bummer that it's on the other side of the country. Too much to ask after the last reveal was in my hometown, but it IS my birthday! lol.
Statues- four toes!
what's in the box?!
I have it paused- they are statues!
I haven't capped it yet but yes @LT and JT - I think they're the 4-toed statue!!
HOW AWESOME A REVEAL SWAG WOULD THAT BE (trumps napkins)
http://www.nineteeneightyeight.com/entry/entry.html
Top Secret Show
Dec. 15 - Christmas Eve
Be there. . .
From the youtube caption:
Comedian/Artist Paul Scheer announces the "Lost Underground Art Show" at Gallery1988:LA opening December 15th, with an opening reception from 7-10 PM. All 16 posters from the Ronie Midfew Arts/DamonCarltonAndAPolarBear SOLD OUT Art Project will be on display in one room and over 25 additional artists will create original art pieces, all LOST-inspired. Come celebrate one of the greatest television shows in history, only a few months before the start of its final season! ...
Anyone know how much a flight from Boston to LA is? Haha.
They don't all look the same- some light and some dark. The first big one has the croc head for sure though.
So there'll be more than the 16 posters...25 more pieces created for the event!
Ghetto high speed caps for you
http://www.shineblitzon.com/lostarg/painting.jpg
http://www.shineblitzon.com/lostarg/boxcontents.jpg
I totally just looked up flights from Chicago :(
Am I wrong that there was a theory that somewhere on the island, at some point - there were TWO statues? "Two sides - one light and one dark"? Might explain why they look like they could be different STATUES, in addition to different colors.
LT I thought he said 25 artists. If those are 4 toed statues I want one. Hint, hint, maven. :)
So does this mean we have to wait until the 15th to see the 16th print??
Thanks for the caps. Yeah they're def Taweret statues.
The red ? has been removed from DCaaPB
Is there no 16th print?
oh man!! I want to live in L.A.! How cool.
So I guess the final URL is on the statues?
@LT, do you mean from the front page? All the prints change to the weird gallery photo as soon as the clues start coming.
No the picture's there
It looks like the other 25 are individual LOST inspired paintings. wonder if they'll make giclee prints available for sale. Hopefully the gallery will be posted online as well...
You mean that all those clues dropped and missing letters etc. are not relevant?
"The red ? has been removed from DCaaPB
Is there no 16th print?"
There are 16. The red ? has been replaced with a link to the hub.
So, unless they put up more clues- I guess it will be the final reveal.
I guess they were just yanking our chains - or more letting us yank our OWN chains - with ciphers and whatnot, though it might still relate to the URL.
But it sure does sound like LA's getting more love than the rest of - well the planet! I hope you guys appreciate it ;)
damoncarltonandasmokemonster.com AND damoncarltonandthesmokemonster.com are not active websites registered to anyone... just checked on a hunch
So I guess the 16th will be found at the art gallery.
@Brad, I did the SAME thing. Ha.
I think a new set of questions for Mr. Scheer are due to be submitted.
Maybe the url relates to the statue somehow? Or not...
I'm just desperate for a Fairey print!
I hope the work you guys have put into the wave hasn't been for naught...
Ok who all from AZ want to road trip over to LA for the evening?
@Brad - just as I checked damoncarltonandsmokey.com lol (also not a site)
AND The four toed statue print is missing from the dharma logo....
@Anne and @AmyLynn - Nice... It was a fine velvet painting. They seemed to be combing smokey's , um smoke...
Well, I might be able to ask my sister one last time-but man, she has to make a living. Would like to see it so much.
Have to admit, that bar code on the back of the Castaway brochure really seemed to mean something. No reason to have it there at all otherwise- unless-salty rose colored fish.
see MEL's letter for the mention of
damon carlton and a smoke monster and other possible paintings
a donkey wheel
and a pinwheel
Someone ask Paul when Walt lost his innocence and youth.
Last we saw he was still a kid, hanging out friends back in New York. :D
I got this as a tweet from Jensenclan88 first then went to DaaCP and saw the video there. Is what Paul is holding in his hand the 16th poster? Is the reveal on the 15th, and I guess this doesn't mean much for those of us not in the vicinity of LA unless some of you can jump on a plane in the next 2 weeks.
Maybe we should keep an eye on DaaCP for clues as usual, he said all 16 will be on display from the 15th through the 16th, would that mean it will have been released before the 15th? Maybe I missed something (shrug)?
Do you see "Misha- from the mind of Paul Scheer"-maybe Misha=Smokey?
Good eye Alex. I felt one was missing. I looked but couldn't think which one it was.
Hey all. Since we're all racking our brains about this feel free to come to the Chat Room and discuss. =O
So.... let me get this straight, all 16 posters will be displayed at Gallery 1988 beginning 12/15 along with 25 other pieces of art. That means we still need to find poster 16. Correct?????
I actually have more than enough credit card points to make this trip.. .but not sure it's really worth it. :/
I will stop by the next day to see all the prints, but can't be there for the reveal. Started working again today doing a 1-10PM shift. Hope I can get the 16th print from a work computer.
Misha is the name of the real artist who painted Damon Carlton and a Polar Bear and Damon Carlton and Smokie.
Ahh- so Misha painted Smokey.
Don't know if I can make it the night of the 15th (since son & daughter-in-law are moving into a home and babysitting might be necessary...I hope). Will definitely make it over sometime during the week. Having it so close to the Holidays must make it tough for a lot of you!
@maven...price for a flight now $500. Price after Jan. 1? $200. I really want to go, but I don't want to spend $500 then possibly spend money there (in case they're selling anything, can't come away empty handed.)
maven
Yeah it seems a little exclusive being that close to the holidays.
Even with a 10 notice I wouldn't think many people would want to fly across the country or ocean for an art showing.
Paul makes a point of saying there are only 200 prints and that if you didn't get them they are gone- I don't know why if the artists are putting some in their subscriptions or selling later it is such a big deal to TBTB. Why do we have to believe there are no more?
missing 4-toed and Taweret give-aways . .. why?
When I first heard Paul Sheer was back in the picture again I thought maybe the last print would be the Temple, because of the drawing he found in the dumpster at ABC.
Believe me...if there's swag...I will make a valiant effort for them to give me an armful for you guys!
Gallery 88 site says paintings and sculptures will be for sale. "The night will also have MANY surprises. You might want to line up early for this one. Oh, gee-on the other side of the country.
many surprises, eh? tptb? the cast? paul?
Sounds very cool, too bad I can't reach it from my couch. I don't live in LA and neither does my computer. Banana crackers.
Has already been discussed some but there is more info here: http://g1988.blogspot.com/2009/12/lost-underground-art-show-on-1215.html
Finally! Another clue...or reveal. Either way something has happened on DCAAPB. I live too far from LA so I'm tracking the progress with the community.
I'm now on Google Wave but can't figure out how to find people. If you're on please add me to the wave. Cheers!
Gosh...I hope I can work it out to be there opening night! (LOST art show...helping kid's move....LOST art show....babysitting....tough choices)!
Bring the grandkids to the gallery. Once in a lifetime event!
Hmmm... I can go there after work and get there around 6:00 probably. I wonder if it's worth trying to take off early to line up?
Maven. There is no choice. Take the baby, boxes and kids to the art show....
oh... and ART CRAWL!!!!
(Middleman reference for you Javi minions. :D)
Oh, man--I think I want to try and go! It would only mean a couple hours of driving time, but it would be so worth it.
Looking at a picture of the Gallery 88 street scene on Google maps- boy, there is nothing much around it-no parking, just a small store front along the street it looks like. Just what you see Paul walking into in the video.
I'm on the same train of thought that Lotto is on, I think we'll see frame 16 before Dec 15th. Them saying all 16 in one room pushes me that way. Guess we'll all be glued to the Polar bear for more news.
It's around the corner from Pink's Hotdogs
hello ive been lurking here for awhile (for about half of this arg) although i havent gotten any prints (believe me i tried) i do live in la and lucky for me im totaly unemployed so i will be going to this. I`ll get in line early i got alot of free time (finaly my being laid off is paying off) see you guys there
Good luck to you there Justin- hope it's a blast.
WIsh I had the time to make it to LA. Flights from PHX aren't THAT expensive....
The G1988 poster has a big red ? in the center of the Dharma logo
I'll be there, in line... Gallery 88 is small and gets really crowded, really fast. Should be a crazy night!
I'll be there with Mark! Probably try and start the line!!
I'll twitter from the event as well, with pics and probably video as well. Also will do my best to grab extra swag for anyone!
Would definitely like to get a poster buddy if the reveal happens there! Anyone?
TOO DAMN EXCITING!!!
Awesome guys. Thanks for going. Good luck scoring the statue as well as any paintings you may be thinking of purchasing. Though I'm sure they'll be much more expensive than the prints.
Not sure if anyone is interested, but this video had to have been shot prior to Thanksgiving. The art on the wall is from the last show that G1988 ran - it ran from 11/3 to 11/22, making way for the current show that started on black friday. The large piece on the wall is what gives the time frame away (it was the centerpiece of the last show).
Sooooo....hypothetical and all, but that means that the 'statues' have been there for some time (if they are statues in the box). Plenty of time, lets say, for them to pass out statues to various artists and have them, you know, paint/decorate them. Maybe it's not the statues as is that will be on display, but LOST-inspired painted statues. Keep in mind this, too - the Vivisect VI show has artists who painted some Vivisect figures. Some of those artists? Scribe, Brent Nolasco & Motorbot.
"SUPRISE! Here is a painted statue from these artists!"
Fits as something that is not directly 'LOST-inspired' artwork, but still a surprise.
along that same line there was similar thing with VW vans and same artist.
mistershow...I would be glad to be your poster buddy if you agree to pick me up some swag! If I don't LOVE the print, then it is yours.
What is your email?
