Olly Moss sold Locke's Secret today via a Twitter post. The first commenter on this was Limbofunk at 11:50 PM, followed by Olly himself seconds later.
The address was ollymoss.com/4815162342.html.
Olly dropped by in the comments, explained how Chris lost his blood, and told us this: I would love to get it out of the way now (I've still got so much to pack before tomorrow!) but I want to release it at a time that UK and US peeps have an equal chance to nab it. Some enterprising dude already discovered the secret URL and got one already, but I've removed the page from the server so there'll be no more monkey business. Then he added three hours should be fine as long as you're able to get to a computer quickly... Also - there's another cool element of this sale that I think people will dig but I'm keeping it a surprise! Asked by Jason about watching Lost, Olly said: I am such a massive lost fan, this project was a massive surprise and honour. Especially since it's my first ever print release! So, good luck to Olly with this exciting release and his move to California tomorrow!
That was that. Congratulations to the lucky 40.
Don't forget Smokey tomorrow, 2pm CST.
In Other news, Anne posted her pictures from the Gallery 1988 event as a flickr set here: Gallery 1988 photos!!!

Well aren't you the lucky one then. Ha ha
Hi comixguru, welcome home, hope work wasn't too bad for you today.
@just thinking, I've noticed my view of the outdoors has changed recently as well, after seeing/owning some Daniel Danger and Dan McCarthy prints. Especially at nighttime. Now it's even creepier! I've evn tried to take some night photos of our house, just because it seemed Danger-ish to me. Of course, I failed miserably. Amazing what a little art in your life can do though!
@futureself - GHOST SHIP! Wow, you have that!?! Did you buy direct from Daniel? Looks excellent on the wall, I know why you wouldn't want to wait to display it. BTW, how wide is the mat on your Locke's Secret that's in the same photo?
Hey, theotherben, I don't have it.
What? What were people congratulating you for? I didn't read all the comments(probably should have).
Well my prediction isn't far off..I mean ,,they did Lost Supper there ,putting themselves rite up there with at least DaVinci, okay, maybe just DuChamp but now...going after Obama,..!!..I think moving the date of address ,,just for the crowing of the passage of the Health Bill..is a gotcha by somebody having a good laff at the Lost Fans..I mean..c'mon guys and gals..how many times has a there been a post about a Prez Speech over the last 5 years of LOST??..at least one a week,,rite?..c'monnnn...
And in any case,,if LOST really...REALLY wanted a muscle flexing Goal..the Prez is small potatoes..If Ya gonna Flex Billions of Fans around the World..yeaa..its gotta be made Bigger..than you kno what..Da Super Bowl, dats what..So ..the Prez's don't mess with the Super Bowl. So its up to ABC and their affiliates and D&C and their Twitter..to get Lost Going after Super Bowl Status!!
MEL
Well, reading the comments at EB on the poster, it looks like to me they think they are being so sarcastically clever that we should all trot off to the girls/boys bathroom and cry.
Funny thing though- the artists that participated in the LFA- the ones that they collect- are all Lost fans. Too bad the EB folks can't see how rich the show is, science, art, music, philosophy, drama are all there. If they tried it they might like it as much as we like the posters.
Kharma - I bought Ghost Ship from Daniel directly when he was selling off his archived prints early December. I was actually after the Jabberwocky but it was sold out. Although I spent way over what I'd budgeted for I'm delighted with my 'consolation prize' (which is far superior to Jabberwocky IMO).
The Locke frame is 28"x40". I like the oversized frames ;)
OtherBen - we were congratulating Thorsten about getting the 'Print of the Week' award over at EB for 'I Once Was Lost'!
I guess it hasn't been made abundantly clear by the dead silence, but nobody wants your $200 Polar Bear. Please put it up on eBay already. And the asking price for the Crash is just sad...
..did somebody turn the donkey wheel?
MEL
@Dan - what is the asking price for the crash?
@Thorsten - kudos on the poster win!
Here's an interesting story - Entrepreneur magazine has a feature story on Jay Ryan and the rising popularity of screen-printed posters (story also features Rob Jones and Todd Slater but no mention of DCAAPB)
http://tiny.cc/zfxbQ
LostiePat - Good reading, thanks for the link.
@Andrew - $1500, which is almost $400 more than the top price ever paid on eBay and more than double pretty much any other selling price.
I am selling my crash for $35 grand, a Dodge Viper, your oldest kid that is old enough to perform manual labor, and some chocolate chip cookies.
I need to sell it so that I can afford another print!
:D

The 4th LU tutoring session is finally up today- and it's not what you'd think from the topic!
@JustThinking I just saw that too. Uh.... What?
btw..I heard the EB fan boys held off on Rev's Daughter's Lockes Secret until next week. By then, Rev will have it on Ebay as a limited edition of one, signed by the artist in finger paint,,so the EB fan boys won't have a choice.
@ Will
Actually -- how about Van, Triangle, Walt and the Swan. Can you do a discount if I get those 4?
thanks!!
For those of you interested, below I did an interview with Tim Doyle (scroll down). Please check it out, but during a re-read I noticed that one of the questions I did got cut off - here is the full question for those wanting to get the full story!
MC: Jay is awesome - I knew of his band, Dianogah, before his prints. Cool guy. I also understand that you are printing other people's prints, too. Didn't you do some prints for Olly Moss for A Life Well Wasted ( http://alifewellwasted.com/ )?
Also, I edited the start date of the G1988 He-Man gallery show wrong - it should of be 1/8!
Hope you all enjoy the interview, and sorry about the errors!
- MilkcanRocks
MilkcanRocks -- great job with the interview. Did you do that all by email?
Yes- great questions MC. you really seemed to be on the same wavelength. I liked Tim's framing info!
Does anyone know if that LU video is the Comicon one of Hurley? Something is supposed to have gone "wrong" with the tutoring I think. You see that in the news section with the email address for Tom too.
@ Ob
Online chat. and Tim's framing tips are fantastic. Simple and effective.
I am selling the tracing I made of Walt's Kidnapping for $20,000. Or best offer.
@ Amy Lynn
Does that include shipping?
@Josh. No.
MilkcanRocks -- online chat, really? Hmmm....
JT: Yes, that was the Mr. Cluck's commercial shown at Comic Con.
Also, I'm getting a little uncomfortable with LostArgs being used as a place for poster deals, Ebay links, etc. This was not intended as a classified ad listing. I'm not sure how to handle this, and I don't want to be a "meanie" and stop people from getting the poster they must have, but I think it's getting out of hand. I don't know what the solution would be since I can not refer you to someplace else to make your deals.
@maven No, it was a different one.
After all else fails, can't get Locke's Secret the first time - can't get it the second time... $600 is my offer if anyone would like to sell their print.
Today was fun! I wanted to pop in and say a quick thanks again to @tahoewikander for helping me out with The Polar Bear. Karen saved me since I was otherwise occupied in the ER at the time of poster reveal.
It was a good day. And I get to go to bed knowing I can sleep in tomorrow. We're expecting 2 inches of snow overnight, which means Memphis will be shut down tomorrow. The grocery store was packed with people making "blizzard" preparations by buying bread. After growing up in Chicago, I just have to laugh at what passes for winter weather advisories here. But I still feel like a little kid waiting for my snow day!
@theotherBen: You're right...awfully similar though.
andalone 6-10 inches here in Chicago tonight/tomorrow. I hope more people stay home...
the next teefury shirt looks like it'll be star wars?
maven -- there is always the trade/sales thread at STV.
Thanks to ObFuSk8's suggestion, here is a link to SpoilerTV's Trade and Sell thread. It might work out easier for everyone if there is one place where these deals can be made. Thank you!
Will, can you give contact information? thanks.
sorry maven. trying to help someone out
@maven, a lot of us, um, no longer have posting access there.
@LT. Sure, my gmail account is vancuren @ gmail. Thanks.
I deleted the "for sale" comment here and moved it over to the spoilertv thread. Thanks for the reminder, I had forgotten that thread was there!
Like I said, I don't want to overstep anything, and I don't want to cause someone not being able to try and get/sell a poster. I just thought it was getting out of hand on this blog, and not what it was set up for. I'm sorry if some of you cannot post at SpoilerTV. Maybe someone can come up with a better idea?
@Will: Thanks!
Oh my! Look what I missed today! I haven't had a chance to read the whole section, but on quick glance I think I saw that Amy Lynn got an Olly Moss - CONGRATS!!
And, most amazingly, that the LostARG poster got print of the week!
YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
SUPER CONGRATS!!!!!!! ;)
whmscl
Wow - OK, after more scanning...Olly Moss visitations, a Lost Island petition, and NO STATE OF THE UNION on Feb 2nd!! Boy, I missed a big day!
Glad everyone had fun. ;)
BTW - Olly Moss, if you're still out there, I love your poster not only for the great graphics, but for being so darn witty. Wish I could have grabbed one myself (along with a Jacob's Cabin!).
whmscl
@futureself, so you're the one who got that archived Ghost Ship! When I saw that go on sale on Danger's site, my heart had a premature ventricular contraction (PVC) aka, skipped a beat! Too expensive for me though. Although, now that I think about it, spending that much on a Lost print doesn't seem too crazy. I should have bought Ghost Ship then! I did buy Jabberwock and Please Don't Worry that day. Both are luscious and heartbreaking at the same time.
The Lost Underground Art series has caused so many people to become more interested in art, artists, and artistry. The many layers of Lost.
@MEL, you hit the nail on the head with the comment about Milo's custom Locke's Secret w/artist doodle. :)
@lostiepat, thanks for the link to the article.
@milkcan, you wrote a really fun article. Thanks for being first out of the gate with the artist interviews. Great work pinning him down for a chat!
@maven, obfusc8, thanks for the reminder and link to the spoilertv trade/sale thread.
@Amy Lynn, I can post at spoilertv. Is there something I can post there for you? Click on my blogger profile to email me. Oh, and glad to hear you got a Locke's Secret!
@andalone, we're getting ready for 2-3 inches of snow here in Middle TN, enough to shut us down. Sad, huh? I used to trudge to school in NY in 2 feet of snow. Uphill both ways.
Did anyone get a Locke's Secret to trade it?
Cosmically Yours
morning all!
OK, as to the trading: I'm pleased there are other sites that do, but LostARGS is a big parish, with people from all over the place. At this stage in the game, I think it's natural that people will be bartering. The really dumb Ebay links get pointed out and laughed at, everything else is pretty much gravy for those of us still interested in getting something out of it - please don't forget a few of us have NOTHING, so any info is useful.
As for the Eric Tan - I missed this in comments - do we have a genuine price he'll be selling it at, or is some chucklehead trying for a stupid price?
Good morning all!
@andalone, try living in the uk, an inch of snow is enough to shut the whole country down. Trains cancelled, schools closed, buses missing schedules, people not coming in to work. Ridiculous really considering there was usually over a foot of snow about 20 years ago and the country still ran.
@maven...
Maybe set up a lostargs comment section specifically for trading and selling. I know there's the stv forum but that's just a big mess now, especially as the first page hasn't been updated in months. I wonder if congested would allow me to clean it up thinking about it. Anyway, a trade comment section would be a nice temporary solution.
Morning folks.
@Ben, yes, a chucklehead. We don't know anything more on Tan yet.
The 411 from Kevin Tong for 'the Hatch' on-sale is up! :
http://tragicsunshine.com/newsletter/
"The Hatch will go on sale Monday January 11, 2010 at noon"
45 will be sold.
Price $200.00
Domestic Shipping $10
International $15
Nice one Midday.
Thanks ChrisL - 'the Hatch' is one I need, you?
200$ :( :(
Bye bye Hatch :( :(
Midday. I know this is going to go down badly but I'm not keen on The Hatch! I shall be trying for it for others who might miss it.
I liked the hatch, but there were three I liked better. And I can't be shelling out $200 on a whim. So I'm out. A shame.
morning all ! I'm just sitting back enjoying the chatter since I have the three I want here. Hope you all get the one's you want. I do have one more that I like but there is no way I'll get it so I'm not trying. Have fun, I'll be watching the posts but getting other stuff done as well. Got to find something fun to do for my birthday tomorrow too
How much will Smokey be?
Does anyone knows?
hasn't been announced yet, but the site it's for sale on has tips for Lost fans, including making an account now, so when it goes on sale you will save time, which is nice.
I'm guessing at $150. I think the Danger and Tan prints will be around $250. And they'll all sell instantly. At this stage, I'd be happy with one. I can't afford more than $200, so either two "lesser" ones, or one of the biggies.
I've been a flats (poster print) collector for years.
If you miss out on the one you want, don't lose hope. in 2011 you will find the vast majority of them have dropped below the original selling price.
Only a few will hold or rise in value, and those will be the established artists like Daniel Danger and Jay Ryan. (Although Olly Moss is tipped as the one to watch).
I remember the scramble for Todd Slater's limited print run of 50 for Danny Boyle's film release of "Sunshine". Cracking print. Sold out straight away.
Now? One sold on ebay for $6
The print world is a fickle bitch!
lol Everyone is entitled to their owns tastes, ChrisL. The price might put me off of it - I have to consider the budget for a couple of the other possible releases too.
I think that Ken Taylor's one will be the one who will hold on its price, too.
My predictions are for Danger, Taylor, Tan, Stout and Moss as the ones that will hold/rise their value.
Sadly, Millward's won't. :(
Morning all!
Kharma - there were 13 archived Ghost Ship's being sold in December. I received a high issue number. Someone at EB posted they received issue number 20 so I wish I'd have been so lucky - still delighted with it though ;) I also got a 'Please Don't Worry' and had previously purchased I 'Could Never Fight your Battle'.
yes, I have definitely got the art print bug. Not as bad a swine flu but rather expensive ;)
I will be sitting out of the bids today (not all that fond of todays prints and my bank balance could do with a rest).
I think the ones that will hold value will be the ones that are collectible to non lost fans. In other words, to existing poster print collectors.
For instance, the Leia Bell print is unique for her, in that she never makes prints that big. Fans of her work have been bugging her for years to make a classic 18x24. Now she finally has.
It will never sell for mega bucks, but it will hold its value. Her fans won't even attempt to buy it at the moment. They will pick it up when everything calms down.
The daddys of them all are Jay Ryan and Daniel Danger. Huge following. They will never drop below cost. Same really goes for Dan McCarthy and Eric Tan.
Tyler Stouts work (probably the most labor intensive) trade well, but it depends on the current popularity of the theme. His Inglorious Basterds is doing well, but the prices on Mad Max have really dropped off.
Olly Moss is a curious one. There is nothing on the market to assess his success, but he is already talked about widely. Thats a good sign.
Could he be the next "great"? No one knows!
It's a pleasant read.
Thanks ;)
ioioos, thanks for the insight. Very interesting stuff. I think those of us that have taken a genuine interest in the print market as a result of this and have been taking pointers from the fine fellows at EB for instance, have started to get a feel for the artists and their place in the market. I can't envisage a time when I'd want to sell any of the prints I've bought, I'm only buying those that I'd want to frame and hang anyway, but it's a good feeling to know they will hold some monetary as well as aesthetic value.
oops, looks like a NEW POST.
