Prize 10 - 1 Less Than Usual 495

Well I'm almost a little tearful that the 10th and last competition is here. As you can see from the picture to the left, this prize is a Tawaret Statue model from the Gallery 1988 art show. (Note - does not include a miniature Zort !)

This is another prize donated to us by Gallery 1988 in recognition of the LOSTARGs site and community as being one of the best places on the web to discuss LOST art.

This draw will again be free to enter but as with the other competitions, apart from number 9, there will only be one entry per person allowed.

Like prize 8 this one will be a little different.

Question

1. What is the title of the LOSTARGs blog post ?

(You will only be able to find this once you have found clue 2. We need the exact title, so if you think you have it and it does not match a blog post title, you don't have it)

2. What is the location of the second clue ?

(Hint - the 2nd clue cannot be found on LOSTARGs.com)

Clue 1

(If we don't get at least 20 correct entries by Midday (EST) on Tuesday we will make things a little easier)

Submit your answers by clicking here and entering the information into the entry form. This same form will be used for each prize. Make sure you choose PRIZE 10 from the selection drop down.

Entries for this prize must be submitted by 28th January 2010

This draw is again free for all to enter, but if you can spare some money then either the logo to the right of the main blog can be used to donate to the Red Cross or as with previous draws UNICEF is charity that does good work in over 150 contries. The link takes you to a site to donate specifically to the Haiti Earthquake Appeal. Click here or the logo if you wish to donate.

AHHHHH!

I think I know where this is going now. I'm on the brink of solving it. Statue here I come!

futureself said...

Thanks Chris, I've just realised I paid extra for tracking on the statue so waiting to see if Jason Munn has any info for me :)

Nice one Martyn...I've submitted my answer too. I honestly don't know if I've got it right (I've certainly never managed to crack these things before).

Drama said...

I'm waiting on four prints, some ordered three weeks ago. I haven't even had a customs ransom demand. LAME.

Amy Lynn said...

I have a random question... I guess we had been told that this statue was going to be part of the Jay & Jack auction for Autism Speaks... why did that not happen?

Martyn said...

Sweet!!!

Answer submitted, i'm 100% sure it's the right answer too. That was a good quiz Zort, my brain still hurts though.

For me, one of the pictures unlocked it and with the anagram, make it all come crashing down!

Martyn said...

Amy, this one came from G1988, the auction one is LotteryTickets.

Isn't it?

Amy Lynn said...

Oh, I don't know. I didn't know there were two.

Lisa-Maladylis said...

yep Martyn your right. this statue came Directly from gallery 1988 where as the one that is being auctioned off for Autism is from Lottery ticket. Her's is being auctioned in March I think

Martyn said...

There were a few given out to people in the queue weren't there? Lottery got one and this one was sent from Gallery1988.

I think it is Lottery's version that is going up for auction, her photo was on the flyer holding on to it.

ugh I think i'm over analyzing this. I thought I had the anagram but then used an anagram finder online and the one I thought i found wasn't there.

thorsten said...

This Tawaret was sent to Zort by Jensen as gift to our community.

Ray said...

Man, I thought I had it. Everything clicked. But i just cant seem to find Clue #2 with what I have....Unless I do have clue #2 and it is staring directly at me in the face.

MrBMusicMan said...

So does the anagram refer directly to the girl wearing the red shoes?

futureself said...

I've just received confirmation from Jason Munn that my Statue has been stuck in UK customs since 15th Jan!

They must really be making sure it get properly crushed before they send it out to me.

Martyn said...

Ah, thought so, cheers Thorsten.

Ray...

It's staring you in the face.

On another note, anyone any news on if Walt's Kidnapping has started shipping yet?

ChrisL said...

futureself, that's a real pain. I did only get mine on Friday though so it could be any day now.

futureself said...

Yes, I expect the ransom note will arrive soon...

Martyn said...

the 15th??? That's bad!

I find that if you get the tacking number and contact parcelforce saying, why is it taking so long, where is it, why are you so incompetent... It actually forces them to pull their finger out. Did it with my last two posters and it was sorted within a day or two. WK is now sitting in my local depot and i'm waiting for, as you quite rightly put it, my ransom note for the daylight robbery.

XXXHardcore said...

@Martyn

I received an e-mail a couple of hours ago that indicated that WK has started to ship. I am in the US, though, so I don't know what territory you are in.

lostsailors said...

Haha, I STILL don't get this. Unless the anagram is something painfully obvious where you go, "I know that phrase!" Otherwise, I've come up with quite the litmus of assorted words and one good strong thread of what everything seems to mean- but of course that leads nowhere! Oh boy...

Martyn said...

@XXX...

UK. Will drop Mitch a line seeing as I never got a confirmation but also never got the money refunded so I must of gotten one.

Cheers for letting me know.

Ugh, it's the end of my Lost rewatch now, been doing it since, phew, June. And i'm finally at the Season 5 finale, part 1. Haven't watched this episode since the first time, mainly because Juliet's *whimper* death got to me. Will be interesting to see how I fare now though.

Ray said...

FINALLY got the second clue. Now I just need to find the correct post. I feel really stupid. I was right the whole time but off by just a little...

ChrisL said...

Just watched it a couple of nights ago Martyn. Such a fine finale. made me so desperate for S6... Juliet whimpering didn't bother me ;-)

Ray said...

And submitted. I really do feel dumb after that. Anyone from the US get Locke's Secret yet? I'm anxiously awaiting mine after I heard someone got theirs in UK last week...

ChrisL said...

In the UK Ray... and still waiting...

Martyn said...

@Chris...

I think what makes it a great finale is the fact we know what's going to happen at the end. I think it's called dramatic irony but it's been a long time since I did English!

MrBMusicMan said...

Ok, ok, ok... got it... whew! Would love this Statue.... Here's a toast to Music Teachers getting the Fan-art they're after!

Avondale Blog said...

everybody seem to be figuring this puzzle out except me. What am I doing (or seeing) wrong??? I know I'll feel totally dumb when the answer is posted.

MrBMusicMan said...

The key is the anagram... get that, and the rest falls into place....

Martyn said...

Cool, WK being shipped today! Other WK to arrive Wednesday afternoon. Hawaii on Thursday. Looks like it's going to be an ace week!

Unknown said...

Not everyone.

I'm still not getting anywhere. Part of the problem for me is that I've got three potentially legitimate answers to the Anagram. All three of which -could- reference the picture before (and yes, I know what the picture ACTUALLY is.)

But I'm just not seeing any link that 'clicks' as logical or 'seems right'.

So I may just be out of this one. Darn it.

Unknown said...

So 'getting the anagram' didn't help in my case. I have three versions. :(

Martyn said...

Get the anagram and the shoes and it's all sorted.

chaseter said...

I can't believe I figured this one out! woot!

Waiting for DD's A CITY SAFE FROM SEA, it's supposed to be here today or tomorrow.

I really love his art and there's a good chance I will never get Jacob's Cabin. I will satisfy my need by getting other pieces.

Avondale Blog said...

I must have the wrong anagram. My anagram fits with third image down if used in conjunction with the fourth image down. But I can't seem to tie it in with the first image. There must be another anagram.....sheesh

ObFuSc8 said...

Hey ARGpeeps!

Have been so busy I didn't have a chance to look at this great puzzle for Prize 10 until a break yeasterday. I got the anagram right away and tried to work backwards but really only had a few minutes. I finally looked at the pic clues last night and at first though I might have LOST some brain cells, but then it hit me. (I think). Fell asleep last night, so I have entered yet...will get cracking on that now.

Zort -- I think getting the cardboard you would be a great accessory to this already iconic prize.

UnseenPresence, our 44th Ward Party solving friend, only one of your anagrams will make sense with all of the pic clues for #1. (I actually figured pic#4 after I got clue2).

LT -- you will have fun in HI! Glad you get to go. You, Unlocke and Erika Olsen can represent midwestern LOSTies!

Unknown said...

@martyn: Not for me. I have the anagram (as it has to be one of the three I have) and I know where the picture of the shoes comes from.

So if it's a direct link (ie, the anagram links directly to either the RL person the picture is linked to OR the item the picture was made for), I know all of that and it hasn't helped.

If the anagram links to something thematic (ie, the anagram references NOT any actual connection to the picture but only a connection within the world of Lost), I'm not seeing it in any way.

So I certainly understand it worked for you. It hasn't for me, yet.

MrBMusicMan said...

Know what the picture with the shoes is... think more generally about the name, and see if it reminds you of anyone in LOST...

Martyn said...

lostsailors said...

OMG HEY! Last night I thought I had something, but it didn't lead me anywhere but to some random site in Canada via redirect with nothing that looked like anything we needed. I tried the same thing just now because I couldn't figure anything else out and it worked! How weird! No wonder everything seemed entirely more impossible. Thanks a lot, internet, haha.

Unknown said...

I must still be thinking about it wrong. The only reference I'm seeing doesn't link with the rest of the pics. :(

MiddayShadows said...

Hi all - Solved it(I think), but it took forever! Kind of rewarding not having any clues beyond "don't over think it," and "work backwards." No further hints are necessary. There is no familiarity with any of the images required.

Well done, Zort!

This statue is awesome. I emailed Jensen about how to get one, and a Locke's Secret T Shirt, in the wee hours of the morning right after the Gallery1988 event. To no avail on either. Fingers are crossed!

Oh and Amy Lynn, that bogus 'inverted' Locke's Secret shirt on ebay looks ,uh, blech.

Avondale Blog said...

This is just frustrating! The only anagram I can get ties in with the image above it (person from Lost), the image above that and only the image above that if it can be interpreted differently. But not with the top image (that I can think of). I want to give up, but my mind won't let me......

Unknown said...

I'm certain I'm over thinking it now. :)

I'll keep trying. But if anyone wants to give me a more solid hint (like -exactly- which anagram is the right one), feel free to email me. Not a demand, of course. I certainly respect the idea of people solving it themselves. :)

OMG OMFG I think I got it !!!!! finally, there it was. I had it all along. Ok, so now my headache can go away whew ! On a funny note, we were walking around the food store and I saw some pink crocks out of the corner of my eye (the rubber shoes people wear.) then I noticed they were on a man. I said to myself, ok well he has some cajones. Then I noticed more pink- his beard and hair is pink and not lite pink either- vivid bright neon pink. Then my bf says to me that he was wearing rouge- bright pink cheeks lol

kiwilostie said...

ChrisL, re youre ealier post - I really hope I can find a "Bob the Framer" of my own. Great to see someone still practised in the 'art' of framing not just going through the motions, and really being into it like the customer. Great post of yours.

I think I've got it. Not sure. It seems to simple. The second clue I mean. If I'm right thanks Avondale blog for your links. And thanks to MrBMusicMan for helping me see the big picture.

I think maybe I have part of it. Because I don't see a blog post. And I'm not sure how to get there from where I am.

Zort70 said...

It was tomorrow for the extra help, but I'm almost afraid to say that we are well over that total now.

Unknown said...

....huh.

By God, I think I just got it.

Unknown said...

And now I understand why some folk didn't get the shoes pic reference until AFTER they got the rest of it.

I'm currently examining whether there is -any- other choice from Clue 2 to the answer to the 1st question other than what I found.

But I think I may have actually gotten there. If so, nicely done, Zort. It really is logical.

ChrisL said...

Kiwi, I wish I could find someone like him in every walk of life. But it's been fascinating for him too, I'd been to him a few times over the years but then suddenly I'm there with these great prints and stories of LOST and of the ARG and the madness of the reveals and of you guys. It's actually a terrific back-story to the prints and as he said, it gives them a soul for him to work with.

Lisa-Maladylis said...

I have to say Zort that when playing these games I have come to realize that Lost has taught me to look at things a lot differently than I usually do. Great game for sure !

Can we frame it?! Yes we can!

Hi SG

I mentioned earlier in the comments that we would take a second answer, but we would only count that second answer, right or wrong.

ChrisL said...

Ob... I was seriously thinking tonight that I'd love to take over his framing studio when he retires. When you go in the back to his workshop it has that smell of fresh sawdust where he's been cutting the frames and you can sense the years of both great and probably dreadful art that's been through his hands!

Unknown said...

And submitted.

Hats off to -everyone- who got it without any help of any kind.

Tess315 said...

Ok Thanks zort.
I'm going to go ahead and submit. I'm probably wrong but I think I at least got close.

Drama said...

bed time now. True story: a great friend of mine, Mr. Joe Purdy, was introduced to me via Lost. His song is at the end of episode 3, Tabula Rasa. It's the one on Hurley's headphones in the beach montage. From that, to buying CDs, to getting to know him. He's ace. Check his stuff out. That whole CD, "Julie Blue" is gorgeous. He also never plays Wash Away. Ever. He hates it.

G'night!

I tried to abstain from almost all the contests because I am truly happy with the collection I have assembled.

But you could not beat me away with a stick for a chance at this prize.

If I won, it would be momentous, out of every contest I have ever entered, print where I tried for 1st order, or competition I have entered - I have always come out at best as third.

But I wish everyone luck and know whoever wins will be peeing with joy.

Okay, this is off topic from the contest and it may be a common sense question, but I can't just let it go...

In 'Left Behind' Kate and Juliet are hiding in the trees from the Smoke Monster and see bright flashes. Does anyone know what the flashes were? Maybe I just haven't done enough research, or maybe it is just something I am not understanding. Can I get some insight, please?

Thanks!

Unknown said...

@roxanna: when people have seen "faces" in the smoke monster, there have been flashes. I always assumed that's what they were. I also thought it was interesting, I might be wrong, but I think it only makes the "flashy" noise when it's "mad" at someone - when it's after Kate/Juliet, when it kills Eko, when Ben is in the Temple.

I haven't had a chance to really confirm that though.

I want a Dharma party kit for AliceL's birthday! What's the betting no shipping to the UK.

Finally!!!! I am so relieved to have finally figure out the puzzle. Major Brain-drain.

But everyone is right - it's so easy AFTER YOU FIGURE IT OUT.

Good luck to everyone who's in the draw.

I can figure out the clues for Justin's games quickly, but these on the other hand? Are just not clicking at all. I give up. Can't wait to see what the answer is.

Martyn said...

Awww, lockes secret. How I hate myself for going inside 1 minute before you went on sale. Obviously, there was no chance of getting it on my iPhone but still.

Anyway, congrats on receiving the prints guys!

These are not the droids you are searching for

Ray said...

@J Thanks for the heads up! Was hoping the delivery guy was coming today, but it sounds like I have a few more days to wait now...

Well, how about this- sometimes a cigar is just a cigar- and sometimes a pilot is just... (no, not a cigar!).

Sometimes a drink on a plane is just a drink- not a vodka & orange juice srewdriver.:)

Morning all on the Tuesday before THE TUESDAY! Awesome to see Lost on the TV grid tonight (even though it's a repeat of the S5 Finale)!

@Anne: I'll echo everyone else...Finish It! :)

Amy Lynn said...

Just heard that the S6 Grand Finale will be May 25, 2010. Plan your parties now!

Kelly said...

Nice find Amy Lynn. This will be an early (but bittersweet) birthday present for me!!

Amy Lynn said...

I wonder what that'll do to the planned LOST weekend. Certainly people aren't going to fly out to LA for 10 days?

rtfarr1 said...

Just got confirmation that my You All, Everybody has been shipped! The only way today could get better is if I could figure out this puzzle...

maven said...

That Finale Date just made the reality of what we're going to go through a little more real! :(

Martyn said...

Officially in LOST finale planning mode. May get the party pack, even though it'll just be me and my gf. Will still be cool just a lil sad at the same time.

Does anyone know when the winners for Contest #9 will be revealed?

Attorney Greg said...

Yes, the winner was announced on Saturday as . . . Haiti

RobPerrin said...

May 25th -- same day as the North American release of Star Wars in 1977. Coincidence? I think not!

Sam G said...

http://www.abcmedianet.com/assets/pr/html/012510_16.html - Damon and Carlton will be there with a message to the fans.

@RobPerrin

May 25th -- same day as Liverpool winning their 5th European Cup in 2005. Coincidence? I think not!

Just Thinking said...

I think Zort said they were working on the puzzle 9 winners over the weekend. By the way- the album for the Haiti telethon is on sale for download if you want another way to contribute and share some good music.

MilkCanRocks' contest ends today too doesnt it?

Martyn said...

Just paid the ransom for Walt's Kidnapping, thought i could choose a delivery time but apparently I can't, should of just gone to pick it up, now I have to base my whole day around it's delivery now.

I must see it before going on holiday!

Amy Lynn said...

@Martyn, enjoy it!!! And remember to sit in a dark room with it until it reveals it's true self!

Martyn said...

I've got to stay up until 2am tomorrow, so I think I can book sitting in a dark room in at some point. So excited!!!

ChrisL said...

Excited for you Martyn!

About to reveal my Olly print. The tube feels light. No Deer Hunter for me I suspect.

Back in a minute.

Bwaaaahhh *must not be insanely jealous of Hawaii attendees* Nah I'm still happy for you guys though :3 Just wish I was going. Probably mostly jealous of the weather, dark, cold, and depressing here.

@Martyn, Ben, futureself, etc: lol well I guess I have to finish it now. Working on background even now. Cross fingers my 9-yo tablet doesn't die before it's colored, it's acting strangely.

Up next - LOST: The Animated Series?

Martyn said...

Whoa, futureself. Now THAT is a promo pic!

Attorney Greg said...

@ futureself (does this mean soon I will know the answer) - That's pretty awesome; what's it from?

ChrisL said...

No freebie... but who needs it to detract from the singular beauty of Locke's Secret. THAT is a stunning print.

futureself, what IS that?

Anne, delighted to here you're at it right now. Don't stop!

Martyn said...

ChrisL...

I now have poster envy!

ChrisL said...

er... hang on Martyn... who's going to Hawaii? Don't let's get started on envy! ;-)

Can't wait to see you on Lotto's live feed.

Martyn said...

lol, oh yeah, I keep forgetting that! Ok, envy gone, thanks for the reality check!

Attorney Greg said...

Can the poster be obtained anywhere?

is it an anagram?

i'm LOST said...

Well, I just submitted my entry. So tell me, those of you who have entered this...it felt like a pretty sure thing when you figured it out?

Lisa-Maladylis said...

Max when you get it right, there is no question at all if you did or not.. it's like a smack on the forehead.

Burton said...

@Max - If you solve this, there will be no doubt in your mind about it being right or wrong. You will know without a doubt when you have found clue 2. And once you have clue 2, finding the answer to question 1 is a breeze.

futureself said...

Yes but the breeziness of Q1 made me suspicious of whether I had the correct answer or if I was missing something. But it is right :)

Justin said...

I was thinking the same thing, futureself. Kinda doubted it for a sec because I felt I got it too easy lol.

@Anne - that's a bad ass drawing!! I hope you finish it, color it and make a print, and sell it on my site as a guest artist lol. I'd buy one :)

i'm LOST said...

...still feels like I'm missing something-but my entry made logical sense!

Anonymous said...

Is the fact that ROWS is capitalized important? hmmmmmm

Justin said...

@beesknees - yeah, zorts puzzle is much more fun and complex than the one's I've done so far! I gotta step up my game now! Lol

Amy Lynn said...

*is currently really peed off that she read the title of S6.02*

THANK YOU VERY MUCH, OWNER OF LOST MEETUP NYC.

Patmc said...

Damn my poor impulse control... (sigh) I just broke down and bought the Dharma Party Kit from ABC. LOL

I think I'll hold onto it though, and save it for the Lost Finale in May. Suddenly... that doesn't seem to be so far away any more, does it? :-(

Still no updates on the shipment of Ben Linus. The USPS tracking system is completely useless. I don't know why they even bother to call it tracking. I just really don't want to come home to a soggy poster tube, that's all (it's supposed to rain here again later today).

Do any of our Hawaii bound (or arrived) friends have any pictures for us yet? I could use some sunshine to chase away my rain clouds... :-)

I recently found out that the Lost Premiere Beach Party is only showing Episode 1!!!!

I will not be posting updates/twitpics until Fri. Not bringing my laptop...just through iPhone.

Amy Lynn said...

Yes, it was always advertised that the beach party is only the first half of the premiere.

maven said...

There's a new post over at TLC for "The Incident" tonight! :)

rtfarr1 said...

I was looking on tv guide's listings for next tuesday and it says just episode one is showing, but it's two hours long...could that be why they're only showing episode 1?

Just Thinking said...

Ok- no one's allowed to jump out of the helicopter- let's pull everyone in the life raft for this last one.

One thing I would say is Zort may have been kind enough to give a hint on the number of words, and we know every word has to have at least one of a certain kind of letter.

There are hints all over now- they may help if you're stuck.

maven said...

My guide on DirecTV says
"(title of Episode) Parts 1 and 2"

Just Thinking said...

I know Unlocke is in Hawaii already and has sent back pics of an intriguing camp fire pit on set- no really it was just a little pile of wood with a palm branch basically. No spoilers He is on twitter.

rtfarr1 said...

@maven
I think that's what tv guide is saying too...It surprised me because I was expecting ep 1 and 2...

thorsten said...

My fake iPhone Interface made third place on Gizmodo!

Amy Lynn said...

@Maven... I saw the title of an episode that was not the one spoiled by Paul S.

Just Thinking said...

Very Lostian Torsten :)

Congrats!

Thanks, JT!

Hey Amy
I see you made a post over at TLC. Just so you know Melissa does post episode titles when she makes her weekly discussion posts.

I don't like seeing titles either so I open the page and scroll real quick then ease up to the comments button to open the comments page. I'm crazy I know. Sometimes I have my daughter open the comments page. lol

Amy Lynn said...

@Sayid's girl... Thanks. I don't mind knowing the next episode's name (after all, Darlton mentions it in the official podcast). I just don't want to know more than one at a time.
