Here is the link.
Mitch added Further Instructions:
- Create an account first, be signed into your account before the sale.
- Make sure you use the two letter abbreviation for your state in the billing and shipping address (ie, use IA instead of Iowa).
- Make sure your billing and shipping addresses match. Even if you they are different, have them match, then email me later.
It will be Paypal only.
As The Kharma Initiative pointed out, Mitch posted this info in the comments:
Hey guys, I hear there are some rumors going around, so let me clear them up.
The 300 Ken Taylor Smoke Monster prints were ALL stamped/numbered, rather than signed. The shipping to Australia was too much of a risk, those boxes were HEAVY. The ones that go up for sale tomorrow are the exact same as the ones that were released through ABC, he just happens to have a damn good stamp that looks like they are signed. Secondly, there is some rumor going around that the colors are different on the ones coming out tomorrow? Not true, they are the exact same, in the same edition, and printed at the same time as the ABC ones.
Hopefully that clears up some of the weird rumors going around.
Mitch stopped by in the comments:
Wow, you guys are always just full of questions, aren't you? haha.
300 was the total edition, just like every other print. Less than 50 will be going on sale today, just like every other print.
And yes, I sell to Australia.
Thank you, Mitch.
Update: Mitch just put this in the comments: If you guys could please refrain from putting items in your cart, pushing "check out" at the end, then not paying, I'd appreciate it. It's causing me quite a bit of extra work. Thanks guys.
In other news: as reported by MiddayShadows, Kevin Tong will offer 45 Hatches Monday January 11, 2010 at noon PST… which is Greenwich Mean Time minus 8 hours. Kevin will sell the Hatch for $200.00, plus 10 Dollars domestic and 15 international shipping. He is an awesome guy and posted a set of instructions in his newsletter.

«Oldest ‹Older 201 – 392 of 392I think they just updated the price of it, it's not 2pm yet.
um....
lame! i looked away for a second!
No, it was on my cart, so they already sold out :D
Says its gone!
Disappointed for the 2nd time...
I was using RefreshEvery and am certain I saw the link go live the second it did - was already logged in, had it in cart until final confirm, and it was gone. That was WAY faster than even the fastest sellouts.
Wondering if someone put in for like 10 prints and has yet to have order cancelled
it wasn't a price update - I put one in my basket, but deleted after realising I didn't want it as badly as some of the others.
It was instantly out
Did anyone get it?
Think I made it :) Order time is: 11:49:07 PST
Got one at 11:48:49 PST!!
Please no more cancellation emails!!!(After being one of the Tail Section 9 on Olly's)
Ok Anne, now you're just freaking me out here, I'm going to be F5ing a little bit more just in case...!!!
it may well be that some are cancelled- those that ordered multiple get their whole order cancelled.
Nice mtutick!
Mitch, problem I think?
I was through in about 4 seconds and it was still gone before paypal kicked it.
I had one in my basket too but it's not 2pm yet, so surely it's not on sale.
Did anyone get it? or was it just the price that went up?
Will be buying for 300USD if there are any willing to sell.
@Martyn - nerp - it's gone. But I suspect some may resurface...
I have one in my cart and can't pay. Mitch, Mitch?
I have one on my cart, but I can't update it 'cause it says that they are over..
price just went up to $300?!
It said item was in stock.
300?
OK, now i'm annoyed, I clicked checkout and it said there was nothing there. The price has gone up to $300 for some reason.
now that was cruel, 2 times lost it!!!
Martyn "around" 2pm!! Its gone bro...
The site was just updated ... $300 now and it says "just a few left" ... tried to add to cart and it was sold out.
Yeah mine is somehow still in my cart but if I click proceed to checkout, "there is nothing in your cart" o_O; Well these systems really aren't designed for this
GOT IT!
It now $300 dollars.
It's 300 now??
Just placed my order at $300. I'm not a fan of the bait at $200 and switch to $300.
11:54:13
Did it even go on sale yet? It says 300 dollars now...
it was the last few copies for 300, maybe 30 for $200, the last 10 for $300
Wow, that's pretty nuts..congrats to anyone who managed to get this! I didn't try for it as I feel I've used up all my luck with the Olly Moss poster.
that's not cool. Bait and switch isn't cool.
i got same "nothing in your cart" rats
damn i got one of the 300 ones in my cart but it didn't let me go through
i feel kidn of ripped off here. I had it in my cart for $200, got to checkout and wasnt even looking @ pricing since I already saw it. And now I checked out @ $315?
That doesn't seem right to jack it up on people DURING checkout, does it?
yeah, hey....$300!?
price change seems just unfair.
this doesn't bode well for Walt's Kidnapping... if they do that to my favourite print, that's kinda sucky.
Eff that! I had one in my cart. $300 from $200? No thanks.
@josh
Right!?
Me also, while it's been sitting in my cart, jumped about 1:30 ago to $300. Not that it will let me check out anyway, for whatever reason.
I just turned down one in the bag for $300. That's exploitation playing on the frenzy.
Bummer! It went from $200 to $300 in seconds. Had one in my cart - made me relogin to checkout and then nothing. Invalid item!
hell, for $300, I could just go to Ebay.
maybe they have a few more for 400?
Okay so when I checked the page again, it said "last few copies". So this item has BEEN IN STOCK while I have been trying, but while it was in my cart this whole time, it's never let me check out. :P
THAT, in addition to it jumping $100 in price while it was there anyway . . . I try not to get upset by these things, but that's pretty bad.
Did anyone confirm they got an order processed for $200?
I imagine that Mitch was furiously deleting overorders, then put the price up with those as a second batch.
Yeah, that sold out REALLY quick. Definitely less than 15 seconds.
Sorry, Mitch. That's really low. Maybe not your decision to play it that way, but not cool.
I didn't go for one, but watching your comments and seeing the site...jumping from $200 to $300 i absurd. I can't believe they would do that in the middle of selling them.
So..
I was buying one copy for 200, but i wasn't able because they were "sold out" JUST BECAUSE someone split the copies with 2 prices?
That's AWFUL.
Well that was a joke then. Is this the site that's going to be selling Walt's Kidnapping? If so, i'm just going to go buy it off eBay now.
@andrew - all it took was someone putting in an order for 30, and they would go instantly. Like I said, I imagine there's an amount of order cancelling and re-stocking happening.
I emailed them about my order (confirmed $300). Still want the poster, but yeah I'm feeling pretty confused.
@limbofunk - I had an order go through for $200. I have the paypal receipt and the confirmation from postersandtoys
That was so fucked
@Martyn - yup, me too I think.
This is bs. Had one at $200 in my cart then tried to checkout and said nothing was in my cart. Same thing for $300. :(
I thought I read it wrong, 300? It's not an error? It was intentional?
Chill out on Mitch, people. Keep your sour grapes to yourselves.
I didn't even get one into the cart before it sold out... (sigh)
I saw the $300 price though... and it's not cool to jack the price up DURING the actual sale! WTH?
hope we get a note from Mitch when it's safe to go to the bathroom..
It's safe... SOLD OUT
go to the bathroom...
we haven't said anything about Mitch. I think people are (fairly justly) moaning at a 50% markup during a sale window when the vendor knows they won't have time to consider their options.
Wow, sorry for those who got shafted on this; I was hoping that this would go relatively smooth like the other artist released. :-/
That was a tough one but let's please reserve judgment on Mitch. We can only guess at what went on there. The work Mitch does in the print community is strong and actually he kind of gave us a 10 minute heads up so....
All the same, I'd really have liked a Smokey :-(
OK, saw the Sold Out, I felt like the piggy in Toy Story 2, just pushing the keys away like a zombie
Haha what a dork. Whatever, I can't hate though. I would've done the same thing.
That sucked. Still willing to buy for 300, though I doubt anyone will say yes. ajlim2005@hotmail.com
question...would I feel the same if the original posted price was $300....hmmmmm.....
*thinks that was sketchy*
From mitch to my email....
The last few copies were $300. I paused for about 5 minutes, then listed them as $300 with "last few copies" in the text.
My "sour grapes" is up because i couldn't buy mine at 200$ because they were finished.
Why?
Because the lot of posters had been split in 2 packs: 200 and 300.
It's just not... fair. :(
Nothing VS Mitch... yet :D
Darn thing is STILL in my cart. For other LE item selling, I've had items in cart vanish in the checkout process due to a sellout before order completion - but I've NEVER had one continue to remain visible in the cart like this. Weirdness. Must be the cart system.
And I also agree; a $100 price increase as you're metaphorically "handing over the cash" . . . that is an issue, and I think Mitch should KNOW that it affected people's opinion of his site.
The smartest thing to avoid criticism would've been to charge $250 for all...
Still in my cart - which was originally $200, then jumped to $300 - very strange indeed.
Still can't checkout
Bummer
I just had confirmation from Mitch by email. They are all SOLD OUT.
I think i'll keep it in my cart forever. :D
It may not have been Mitch's idea to make the last few $300 but I still think that's not cool. I'm not bitter about not getting one. I already have one.
Okay, relax everybody. Mitch was very helpful all the way and is a nice guy.
I understand the frustration, but let's keep this decent, please.
Worst Ecommerce experience ever! You cannot raise the price while in the cart. That is all kinds of sketchy. If they wanted to get 300.00 a print, they should have made them all 300.00. Crooks..
Mitch said he was still discussing pricing with Ken earlier. This baith and switch could have easily been Ken's call.
Like I posted earlier a majority of the prints were already gone before anyone had a chance to begin with. Rumor was that everyone on his mailing list got first dibs a few days ago. If true than that leaves at most 15 of them available
Well, Mitch confirmed that it was intentional...not quite sure how I feel about it. Really glad I got the poster. Wish the price wasn't so high. Wish I knew how much I was paying. But still.
This blog doesn't usually have dedicate threads for each topic we usually discuss whatever is current. Or just talk.
I understand ImAnnie getting excited with her card not working this close to the drop time. People need to relax just a litte.
I would like to know how to get into Davies class too.
LU is fun, but if you can't afford it I wouldn't waste my money on it.
After it's all said and done there will be videos of it and ABC probably will be ok with it then.
Good luck to everyone trying to get a print today.
There was no price change on checkout, here is what happened:
The last few copies were sold for $300. The page was updated, and the words "Last Few Copies" were added to the text. Only the last portion were sold at that amount.
I do use live inventory, so maybe people already had them in their carts for $200, then when some came back in stock at $300, that is what their order updated to. Please understand the $200 prints were completely gone, even if they were in your cart.
If anyone paid $300 and wants a refund, please email me and I will be happy to refund you.
Also, for questions about it being in your cart, I use live inventory, so if it's in your cart and you can't check out, it means it's sold out.
Exactly, that's why there has not to be MITCH hate, but UNFAIR-RAISE hate.
JFuller, I've been on the mailing list for a while, I received nothing about advance sale.
Stick with the facts, please, JFuller. Rumors are not helping right now.
This isn't the first print I missed out on. I knew it would go quick, but the site just didn't work. I kept trying to check out with a $200 print that would appear in my cart, then wouldn't be available when I went to check out. In the mean time, there were $300 posters being offered... I wish he would have just listed it at both prices, i would have had no issue choosing the $300 one if I knew it existed. Well, I don't plan on ever purchasing from that site
Well I guess I was a little late on my post. I thought I was caught up. I guess not. I was 20 minutes behind. oops
What ChrisL said. No early hookups for mailing list members.
I didn't feel too bad about the price change, to me the bad part was the whole having to sign in again thing. We were told to have the account setup AND signed in. Previously signing in was pretty much useless, and a time waster. I was 3 times at the checkout but all the extra steps is where I lost it.
I have fast fingers but I guess it just wasn't "in the Numbers" for me to grab Smokey this time :((
lol @ sayid'sgirl! Don't worry, you missed nothing.
@Thorsten - whats yr email? Im sure I can clear the rumor up real qick
Sheesh, it's not that uncommon to sell the last copies of something for an increased price. The problem came into play that so many people were trying to order at once, that maybe it appeared the price changed mid-order.
I promise you there was nothing set up to let you order at $200, then switch it to $300 without a buyer's knowledge. Rather than sell them all at the high price, I thought I'd offer the first 40 or so prints at $200, then see if anyone wanted one of the last 10 for $300.
A bunch of the prints that Mitch just sold are on Ebay for 600-700.
I don't think i'll buy walt's kidnapping from there, however.
Ebay search, i'm coming!
@Joey word.
i didnt even get a chance to try- just saw the $300 and sold out. what?
so confused. thought it would be going on sale around 1pm PST.
o well. off to spend my money on something else! :)
vabauer, setting up an account in advance meant that you did not have to enter your address details etc.
Well if anyone doesn't want their copy they bought at $300, I'll gladly give them $350 and you can just send it to me :)
Amy, the flippers were so on this one. Yesterdays was awesome from Olly, no fixed time, only the true believers F5'd all damn day.
Wow, you guys are a tough crowd. I think there may be some confusion about how the site works...
Getting something in your cart isn't the goal, it's checking out with it. So, if the prints all sell by the time you check out, the item will still be in your cart, but you can't checkout. So, the site works, but when hundreds of people are trying to buy 30-some prints, not everyone can get through. I wish I could give everyone prints, trust me, but there just aren't enough for everyone to be happy.
@thorsten
I understand what you mean, but I think expressing how we feel is not being undecent.
Not only the act has been weird, rare, not fair (however you want to call it) but also the final price has been the same we were complaining about when the "scalpers thing" started on ebay (the first copies on ebay were at around 300-400). So I think this is cheating on us.
And I am sorry if that bothers someone. I just think I am in the right to express myself.
I just think that they could have avoided the appearance of "bait and switch", by letting people know BEFORE the sale that there were going to be two different prices.
Seeing how quickly the other posters were selling out... they HAD to know that people were going to run into this issue with having an item in their cart when they changed the price.
Very shady... and does not leave me with a very good opinion of either artist or merchant. Just my opinion...
Maybe the bait and switch is common, but I don't think it's really fair. If they were going to do that, they should have waited an hour or something.
I actually think it's worse that they told people 2ish, and sold at 1:46.
instead of just selling them all at 200? that doesnt make sense. are the last ten more special than the first 40?
I would give them $300 + One of my prints which are The Numbers, The Love Triangle, The Swan Station and The Polar Bear
i would love to get swan station, polar bear, or jacobs cabin if anyone wants to sell. might be willing to trade love triangle
@Mitch, I think the problem here is that this is the first time this has happened with a print in this series. A lot of people aren't used to final prints going up in price. Hence the awkwardness.
Also, while it may be common practice, surely it's for slower selling items. I'm sure you knew this was a high demand item, and thanks for doing a bang up job on selling it efficiently. I agree with one of the other posters that (even if it's just for art No0bs) there should have probably been two buttons, or a heads up in the text on the page. But it's done now, I just hope there's no confusion over the next ones.
Honestly, I think the true test is to see how the EB folks are reacting to this. Presumably they'd know what is "common practice" and what is "shady."
Selling jacob's cabin, 4toed statue and love triangle (first is mine, the others are from a friend): offers at dvdbos at gmaaaa*nospam*aail or to ImAnnie at STV.
I think Mitch said it best...if you don't want it for $300 he'll give you a refund. I'm one of the "300s" and I have to admit...that is fair. I DONT WANT A REFUND!! SMOKEY IS MINE!!!!! Yahoo!!!
my email is j_m_mccarley@hotmail.com if anyone wants to talk trade or sale...
"I just think that they could have avoided the appearance of "bait and switch", by letting people know BEFORE the sale that there were going to be two different prices." -Patmc
Exactly what I was going to say. I didn't have time to really consider whether or not I wanted to pay $300, I just had to checkout out asap or else I'd have no chance. At this point I'm still unsure whether I think the print is worth that much to me. It'd be nice if those of us who paid $300 got a little something extra for the hefty cost.
first one up on ebay
link
Just to weigh in, the change of price isn't exactly unfair since the seller can do whatever he wants. It's just really really really annoying.
Ok well to make myself feel better I just bought The Dharma Van, Hurley's Curse, and The Love Triangle off ebay....
Well, I'm still hoping they release "regular" posters at some point for $50 or so, I would even buy the whole set for $800 if that's the only way they sold it
Yeah, you're right. This all didn't quite work out how I envisioned it. I should have used a different item number. Since the price change wasn't visible to people, it did seem like kind of a sour deal, so I will be refunding the people that paid $300 their extra $100. Sorry about that, and hopefully my mistake doesn't reflect badly on Ken, I just honestly didn't forsee the in-cart price switch, and how it would work. I thought people would see the price change to $300, then make a decision. My apologies guys, sorry.

ImAnnie...u said gmail?
Oh man. Lost posters. I missed this madness- and I hope I get to F5 all day for Walt.
Perhaps we should start campaigning for Drew to use a different site? Be more transparent?
FRIENDLY campaigning, I mean. With extreme politeness.
I'm not buying Walt's Kidnapping from that site. I don't care if it is common practice to up the price, $200 is ridiculous in the first place but to know it up to $300 is just wrong. If the second favourite poster sells at a resonable $200, why does the 6th favourite think it's worth $300? I miss Olly Moss. Bring Olly back.
P.S. Nobody better buy any of the Walt's Kidnappings off eBay before I get a chance.
Wahoo! Mitch is a good guy.
Enjoy your refunds!
thanks Mitch. I mean, I didn't get one, but that's a pretty stand up thing to do.
@ Mitch
First off, thanks for your responses, it does mean sometime, to me at least. The issue I have: I would have been more than willing to have gone for a $300 print over a $200 print, but I didn't know it was an option because your site kept showing $200 in my cart and when I clicked the cart the print was listed. I missed the $300 listing while trying to get that sorted...
OK, let's stop the complaining now... Mitch has clearly done his best here.
Well, I was buying a Daniel Danger print at the time and also setting up my billing. So, joke on me- but probably for the best.
Smokey's great-but don't know where it would go at home.
I know, like I said, the price change thing didn't work out like I envisioned it at all. I am honestly sorry guys.
@ Mitch,
Thank you for doing that- I really appreciate it. I deleted all of my comments about the sale since you took care of it.
I hope with the Walt's sale there won't be two different prices - if you want $100 for 40 and $200 for 10 just average it out and charge $120 each. It's fair to everyone especially since its a mad rush to checkout.
Thanks again!
Thank you for making things right, Mitch. You are a stand up guy.
Sorry Mitch, I was posting as you were replying. So, with no re-releases scheduled until Monday, we can all relax a bit, I hope!
@drsluggo - wishful thinking there.. I can't see many of these prints going for less than $200 knowing demand like it is. I mean, I live in hope, as Walt's Kidnapping is my fave, but still....
Good on you Mitch!
Nice one Mitch. Stand up guy.
@ Ben -
the $100 was just a wishful suggestion.. i guess my 'averaging' the price was my hope for the Walt sale because it doesn't punish us slower people :)
@Joey - nice! :)
you and me both... that's my favourite print (that and Jacob's cabin) so I have my fingers crossed that it's cheaper.
I posted Walt's Kidnapping on ebay with a buy-it now of like $250. Someone bid $99, so the buy-it now vanished. Now it's in the auction system, but we tried to offer a fair price I thought. For those still hoping for Walt here's out auction
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=140371921446&ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT
Very fair thing for you to do Mitch, appreciate it. But now that I know this is the case, I will still probably not buy Walt's Kidnapping from your site. You're a stand up guy and all but the increase to $300 wasn't warranted. If it were to $200 from $180, that would of gotten less flak, but to $300?
Anyway, thank you for your honesty.
Thanks ChrisL you always have a kind word.
Now back to catching up. When you guys getting angry it's hard to keep up. :)
Mitch, don't even try to reason with these crazies.
If John Locke hand delivered the print, they would whine about the outfit he was wearing.
@OMG Mitch: Okay I think I understand what happened now, and appreciate not only your candor but your immediate information.
I'm new to the print world, but not to limited items, and had never experienced a price jump before. If you are dealing with another item that's this limited and so in demand, I think it's important that you get feedback. There wouldn't have been any time for anyone to decide about the $300 vs $200 - I am certain that I was clicking checkout in the first five-seven seconds of the $200 prints and wasn't able to check out. I saw the page change to "last few" @$300, tried again, and still couldn't get through. I definitely couldn't have thought about it.
That's honestly, just an fyi, mainly because the exact same thing will be happening with Walt on Monday.
:D
Mitch, i will forgive you, if you sell me a Walt's Kidnapping for 50 dollars.
Joking :D
Or not?..
The Walt sale will be all one price, lesson learned on that.
Also, the price will also be a bit lower than Ken's. Cheers guys.
Anne, that sums it up well, there is just no time to stop, read, consider!!
Thank you again, Mitch, regardless of what people who come in here solely to sling mud say, I am personally certain the community does appreciate it.
And on that note, just became a winning bidder of walt's kidnapping. Hopefully, it's high enough to stave off the competition. May go buy that Dark Knight print too actually. Oh and apparently, i've receive System Failure from Justin so will check that out now.
So are Walt's Kidnapping and the Hatch going on sale at the same time Monday? I'd love that, since I have Walt and desperately want the Hatch. I will be enlisting as many people as I can find to get the Hatch :)
Walt isn't on sale for weeks. Which means probably while i'm away in hawaii anyway.
That was an interesting sale! Kudos to Mitch for listening to the complaints and explain and then came up with a good resolution!
Also, we discuss everything here related to hiatus Lost events! So LU is fair game here.
NEW POST
OMG Mitch. Thanks for fixing this for people and my apologies if I sounded harsh. I certainly did not mean to be. Cheers. Poster sale day here is always hellish.
I didnt try for Smokey at all, but I will NEVER buy from OMGPosters, EVER. OMG Mitch made a decision to price his goods at what he wanted, his right as a seller. He made a decision to sell 80% of his goods at one price, and 20% at another, his right as a seller. He did not advertise this, which he isnt obligated to, but I still consider to be unethical. What is not his right as a seller is to change the price mid transaction and not inform the consumer. It is a unilateral contract change and illegal under the UCC article 2. To cover his unethical business practices OMG Mitch is offering to refund the $300 to those he scammed, this make the whole transaction legal. If this is how OMG Mitch wants to run his company I will never buy from him. LOSTie, good guy, doesnt matter. What he did is unethical, and not the type of person I want to do business with.
@adam_keller
LMFAO.
he made a bad decision and admitted it and tried to make things better. LOST is all about redemption, it's instilled in us to forgive and move on. I said I would not buy from his store at first, but because of his actions, I do plan on getting some stuff from there.
And I though we were over this... Also, a guy sold The Smoke Monster #101 for 400USD however I'm pretty sure its fake since he's selling another #101 on expressobeans.com
@Jason The guy said something about wanting to sell it before going out of town yesterday. I offered him $200, he said he would accept $325, then someone bought the buy it now for $400. My guess is he didn't have the chance to take it off EB before leaving.
Ahhh... Ok, my bad. Thanks for clarifying ateamblog.
The annoying thing is, I had one at $300, but considered it too much and walked away.
Now it looks like I could have had it for $200 all along.
Nevermind. Its still good of Mitch to take the flack and try smooth things.
So, how effective is Expresso Beans when dealing with Selling and Trading?
I just listed Polar Bear on there. And if anyone is willing to sell, I'm looking for The Numbers!!
:D
If Obama decides to really speak on 2/2, is there any possibility we'll see 6.1 on 1/26 instead, you think?
I'd be interested in a trade between Locke's Secret and The Crash.
BTW Thorsten has a NEW POST.
Ioioos - they equally make my top favourite Lost print. A fair trade IMO (but I have both so sorry I can't help).
@ adam_keller
My name is Rob Jones, and I made one of the posters for the Lost series. I also work with Mitch pretty much on a daily basis supervising posters for Alamo Drafthouse.
I don't post much online, but I read the comment from Mr. Keller and felt compelled to respond as I don't abide folks espousing libelous trash about friends and associates who, like Mitch, in possess a stainless reputation.
First the "goods" in question were not Mitch's, they were the artist's, Ken Taylor's. Mitch sells posters for Ken as it saves Ken money having stacks of posters printed here shipped to Australia and helps his sales as people are more likely to buy a poster they don't have to pay Australian shipping on.
Second, raising the price on the tail end of inventory is a standard practice in the print world. Someone else asked what is so special about the last ten prints. What's special about them is they are the LAST ten apart from whatever is put into the vault. I have posters I've initially sold for $30 and later sold for $1000. Why? Because they not going to be printed again and once they're gone they're gone. This is how artists make a living and helps pick up the slack for other posters produced that might not ever sell out.
Could Mitch have handled it differently. Yes, but hindsight is 20/20 especially when dealing with internet carts, traffic nobody ever really knows how to prepare for, and other online triva that makes me happy not to have to deal with that sort of technical stuff .
Third, Mitch did not refund $100 to people to extricate himself from some legal entanglement. That assertion is beyond bizarre. If I were him, I would have offered the folks that payed $300 the chance to get all their money back or keep the poster at the $300 price. I know Mitch well, and I know he can't stand anyone to cast aspersions on his actions or someone he represents, so he sacrificed $1000 of Ken's potential earnings to maintain good will. Frankly I wouldn't be surprised if he offered Ken $1000 of his own money to make up for it.
When Tim Doyle left Alamo, I didn't know Mitch from Adam. I needed someone to act as a liason between artists and the theatre with a good eye to help place artists with projects. I called Daniel Danger and Todd Slater asking if they knew anybody up to the task and both immediately said Mitch. Both went on about what a stand up guy he is. I called some other folks who worked with him, and everyone questioned sang his praises (this again is why I find the comment of Keller's so repellant). I took their advice and made the recommendation to Alamo who took him on as curator.
I've worked and talked a lot with Mitch over the past year, and I have witnessed him champion artists and greatly help them with sales through his site OMGposters. He is also tireless in getting people work with poster series doing his utmost to make sure they get compensation before sales from band management (believe it or not, often a rarity in the music poster world). More often than not he does this with little to no compensation on his end.
I know Mr. Keller doesn't know Mitch from a hole in the ground and is only making these statements based on what he THINKS he observes. I just want him to know that he is incorrect. You can have an opinion on how you view the sale, but you are dead wrong if you accuse Mitch of being unethical.
Sorry for writing a novel.
Cheers
