UPDATE: THANKS TO EVERYONE WHO WAITED AND REFRESHED OVER AND OVER THROUGHOUT THE DAY. UNFORTUNATLEY, ONCE I GREENLIT THE SALE, IT SOLD OUT IN ABOUT 5 SECONDS. DUE TO THE PAYPAL DELAY, A TON OF OVERSELLS GOT THROUGH. I WILL DO MY BEST TO GET THE INITIAL 28 PEOPLE THEIR PRINTS ASAP AND I WILL GET REFUNDS TO THE OVERSOLD CUSTOMERS ASAP. I APPRECIATE ALL THE MESSAGES FROM THOSE TELLING ME HOW LONG THEY WAITED. BEING A FAN WHO ALSO FOLLOWS THE PRINT DROPS OF HIS FAVORITE ARTISTS, I COMPLETELY UNDERSTAND HOW MUCH TIME AND EFFORT IS PUT INTO WAITING AND THE DISAPPOINTMENT OF NOT GETTING ONE OF THE PRINTS. I WILL DEFINITELY SEE IF THE POSTER CAN BE RELEASED IN SOME OTHER FORM (LIKE THE TYLER STOUT LOST REPRINT RELEASED AT THE GALLERY OPENING). THANKS AGAIN TO EVERYONE WHO FOLLOWED THIS PROJECT AND I'M DEEPLY SORRY THAT I COULDN'T MEET THE DEMAND.

Well... at least there is a chance he might produce some giclee prints or litographic posters. I would be EXTREMELY happy with one of those at this point. I just want his art on my wall.

throwfar said...

LOL...on Locke's Secret getting the shaft for the Crash...I'll trade my hatch for a secret...(had to attampt while people are feeling Vulnerable)

Martyn said...

I think abstractlyput has lowered the asking to a more reasonable price. $1,800 from $2000

And she's had 8 offers!

Yikes. IF it sold out in 5 seconds, then looking at my time...daaaayyyuuuummm.

Oh well, I can take comfort in the fact that we saw the last Kate centric, ever.

Hopefully.

Martyn said...

Now at $1600. She must be realising that no one wants it THAT badly.

Chris S. said...

It looks like the one on ebay is going down in price

ChrisL said...

1800 is utterly absurd for this print. Seriously hope no-one buys it.

capostar said...

if there's a possibility for a litho version, then this ebay person is more desperate to sell ...ha

Anonymous said...

@Martyn

Its lowered to $1600 already. Do you know her then. She's sure been buying and selling a lot of lost posters.

Martyn said...

@Capostar...

Totally agree. Wish I could get a big canvas of LS rather than the small one i made myself.

I'll trade Walt's Kidnapping and a jelly bean for Locke's Secret (liking the vulrability idea throwfar)

Amy Lynn said...

I will trade a jelly bean for a dollar.

Ray said...

Noooooo I went downstairs to make lunch and of course it got sold when I was gone. If anyone has an extra please let me know, thanks!

kushmeja said...

Those of you who have hopes for a litho version, shouldn't get your hopes up. I've never seen anything licensed like this reprinted. The only reason the Stout was is because the producers of LOST wanted them that way. I don;t think they would let Tan do a reprinted litho. A New Series of Prints would be much more likely imo.

capostar said...

I was going to make print Crash myself (with the help of dcaapb.com)

But I'll wait for Eric to see what he can do

Martyn said...

@ioioos,

looking at her feedback, you bought the same flight of the conchords poster from her too. Or someone else called ioioos. I had to haggle with her the cost. She wanted $70, I wanted $30, settled at $46.

I hope I got it! Ive only seen one person here with an earlier time than me!

The auction abstractlyput has up started at $2500, I think and it's steadily dropped to the $1500 today. I made one of the eight offers and it was rejected.

I was out but watching Tan's site on my phone when it hit, but wasn't quick enough. So since it's the last one I need, I'll put forth a trade offer: I have Moss's Die Hard, Deer Hunter and Indy and the Last Crusade black and red prints. I'd be willing to work a trade for one of those for The Crash if anyone is interested: maxthesilent 9 at yahoodot com.

Ugh, man, I hope he's able to.

@teamjack I feel you. I'm in exactly the same boat. Managed to make it through the entire experience without a single print and this one, my absolute favorite, would have been so lovely to own. =[

kushmeja said...

Considering the demand, I don't see these going below $500 at least any time soon. If the popularity continues to increase, these will all be over $1,000 in a year or two most likely.

Anonymous said...

If we get another 14 episodes like this weeks show, we'll be able to pick up all the prints for double digits come the summer!

chaseter said...

Disney will not let Eric reprint these. Anybody who wants it, EB or Ebay is the only place.

-charter

ChrisL said...

collarinim. I would say zero chance of this being $1000 in a years time. JMHO.

Amy Lynn said...

Yeah, the value of these is going down, rapidly. None of them are going to be worth $1000 next year. Not even half that.

If you want a litho, download one of Rev Milo's hi res images and make it yourself. Not really a big deal.

geekboypress said...

I know it's a longshot, but I'll trade my Jacob's Cabin for the Crash.

I know, I know...just thought I'd put it out there!

Anonymous said...

@Collarinim

Not a chance. Look at Locke's Secret. Already out selling The Crash, but it has halved in value in two months and it will halve again.

Once lost finishes and the dust settles, they will drop to the similar values of desirable rarer prints. And that is nothing like the prices people are talking up at the moment.

kushmeja said...

Just putting my opinion out there. I've been collecting posters and art prints for a couple years now, and I see a lot of highly desireable prints like this continue to rise, despite people saying they will drop. There are only 300 of each - less the ones that are in collections that will stay there.

Amy Lynn said...

collarinim2, sorry to disagree with you, but I think you're wrong.

capostar said...

I would be equally fine with a high quality reprint of this kind--official or not.

Especially since there aren't any reflective elements, or extremely fine print that you lose.

This is one of the reasons that I'm not so upset about this

HenryGaleWasHere said...

If anyone's looking for a Lost related print, I picked up an awesome one awhile ago for only $20, and it's handfinished too!

Don't Let Them Touch

It's at Armando Chainsawhands under the Portfolio section, check it out!!

Just Thinking said...

Amy Lynn- have had no lunch and would really like a jelly bean- here is my $.

I was trying to get the computer to connect and WORKING! I really like The Crash, but am desperate for Jacob's Cabin- so had dreams of a trade. But there's truly Haiti desperate and then there's just for fun desperate-so no worries.

Martyn said...

@ioioos...

I this weeks episode wasn't too bad. But yes, I agree, double digits if the rest are like it.

The value of these posters is because of out love for LOST and anticipation of the end. Once the end comes, we'll no longer want to pay that much for it. If the end is a dud, people will buy the crash just to burn!

That'll never happen but you get my point.

HenryGaleWasHere said...

I'm afraid my Crash timestamp of 09:23:25 PST might not stand... :(

kushmeja said...

Still no refunds? Or did anyone get one yet?

MiddayShadows said...

collarinim makes a good point- there are countless prints out there that have maintained their value for years after they should have logically peaked or plummeted. But who the hell knows really.

Also, I really liked this week's ep...

kushmeja said...

This show will have fans for years to come and there will be more and more people interested in it. I expect the demand will die down a bit, but so will the supply of available posters as they make their way into people's collections who won;t part with them. Poster and Print collector's tend to have a lot of cash available - many people are flippers and make a couple hundred off of one print just to spend it on another. Just my 2 cents.

Zort70 said...

Typical I turn my back for a few moments.

I should have known :-)

Anonymous said...

@collarim2

I hear you, but I don't think Lost will have longevity.

If you look at the value of Stouts Blade Runner, Jay Ryans early works or Danger and McCarthy's smaller runs, they still seem to peak at the few hundred dollars.

The Lost run is currently all the rage, but because of Lost fans, not art fans.

There will be another few Lockes Secrets and The Crash which may go for the $1000 mark, but they will be few and far between and come June, the prices will begin to drop off in a big way.

Already some of the prints can be had for half the artist purchasing price on ebay.

Joey said...

I liked the begining of this weeks episode, loved the second half.

Jack was awesome. Dogan was awesome. Sawyer was awesome. Aldo was awesome.

:-)

ioioos, I think collarim2 is just trying to rile us up. No need, just ignore.

ChrisL said...

@ioioos. You are right IMO. Cheap as chips within a year.

@Midday. Hi - How are you?

@HenryGaleWasHere. Honestly, your prints are no substitute for missing out on an Eric Tan. Sorry. JMHO.

@Zort. You should never have mentioned you were going to be away from your computer. As soon as I read that I KNEW the drop was imminent!

kushmeja said...

Look at Stout's Thing or Big Trouble in Little China - they have just increased in value and rarely come up for sale. There's no where near the level of demand to the Lost series either. I'm not trying to rile anyone up, just being realistic. If you don't like what I have to say then ignore me.

ChrisL said...

@collarinim, but have either of the Stouts achieved $1000? I think that's the point really. These prints will of course still be popular because the artists are great and so is the art but really, $1000 for a print. That won't last.

Martyn said...

ChrisL said...

@collarinim. Then I stand corrected. Where can I get one?

kushmeja said...

Unfortunately they aren't that easy to come by and only come up for sale a few times in the last couple years, hence the high price tag. I'm still ISO one of the Thing's myself.

Chris S. said...

my offer got declined on ebay, but the seller said she plans on making the crash lost print an auction on ebay starting at .99 tonight. she didn't specify when though.

ChrisL said...

@collarinim. I was half kidding. I wouldn't pay it.

Jason, there are some fantastic items up there now... That's where I'll be spending my $1,000 if anywhere.

Unknown said...

I agree chris. Are these kinda auctions an online thing as well?

Martyn said...

Surely some of that stuff will go for cheap, right? I mean, Ana Lucia's ID card, Boone's Personal Effects? Only suckers like me would bid on that!

Martyn said...

Correct me if i'm wrong but that wasn't the photo of Eko and Yemi, right?

http://www.profilesinhistory.com/items/lost-auction-preview/ekos-cross-necklace-and-photo-of-eko-and-yemi.html

JFuller said...

Regarding the auctions, a few months ago i posted info about it:

Ive dealt with PIH on a semi regular basis (im a screen used prop collector). Its a live auction in California, but they also stream it on their website for online bidders. Each auction lasts about 1-2min. Absentee bids go first, then floor/internet bidders. The auction will be 2 days, and youll have to register and get pre approved for bidding first. For their regular members as a service is they assign an employee to you. When i bid Im online watching it but I have the employee on the floor while im on the phone with him doing the actual bidding.

Just to give everyone a heads up, they have already sold some of the items privately (their not even shown on the website). As for prices, they will be extremely high because they are screen used. Figure Locke's knife would normally go for in this type of auction for about $4000-$5000 but beacuse its Lost and they have crazy fans, itll prolly go for about $9000. As for the little things like passports expect them to start at $500 each.

MiddayShadows said...

@ChrisL - I'm great, thanks! Yourself? What's the weather liek today , that side of the pond?

@Zort - Knew you stepped away, so I immediately went into 'buy now' mode. How Pavlovian.

@collarinim - you're stating your opinion just fine, I for one am not riled up.

@Joey - could not agree more about the top notch acting in this week's ep. I'd include Kate in there too. I found both actors to be very affecting in the dock scene. They needed to play off one another for it to work that well. Same thing can be said of the scene in the premiere, hour two, between Jack and Locke in the airport- so much subtext, and so understated , so well played- it might be one of my favourite scenes in LOST ever. I'll elaborate on that later sometime.

@Martyn - hilarious that FOTC poster person was your interviewer!? Am I getting that right??

MiddayShadows said...

...and that Stout 'the Thing' poster is phenomenal -totally want it.

JFuller said...

Just to add to my post:

I stand by what i put above but anything can happen, for example:

A screen used NOES Freddy HERO glove from part 6 should have gotten at least $7000 but only sold for $3500 while Matthew Broderick's HERO jacket from Ferris Bueller's Day off was predicted to sell for $8000 but ended up selling for $23000

Jawapez said...

@JFuller

Prices on some of these prints are already starting to drop on ebay. There's a swan for buy it now at $189.99 and the last couple sold were low $170's also some hatch's are starting to mellow out in the mid-low $200's as well.

JFuller said...

@ChrisL - I was just using examples, anything can happen. But they all have a starting price and the lowest Ive every seen for screen used items is $100

@AteamBlog - There is an unofficial list but if it ever got out then they would be in a lot of trouble for selling stuff early. ;)

Ive spent $1,000's with PIH on props over the years and I couldnt even secure any. I think only the high end private collectors got first dibs on it. Like the guy that spent $250,000 on the prop gun from Blade Runner.

throwfar said...

The swan is better than the 4-toed Statue! I agree though its not a favorite. I am however, starting to change my opinion of the Barrack's. It will be the next on my "buy" list as its one of the few bright prints. I'm starting to enjoy its simplicity as well!

kushmeja said...

I think the Swan Station is one of the nicer prints. Rob Jones is pretty collected as well. Most of his stuff goes for over $100 anyways.

noeldaddy said...

Seeing the Swan in person, it is an amazing peice of artwork and has become one of my favorites of the entire series. It's bold, it's stunning, and I can't say enough good things about this print. Regardless of what other people want to pay for the Swan, this will always be priceless to me

Amy Lynn said...

I drew a Swan Station print on a napkin with Crayola crayons and sold it for $250.

kushmeja said...

Still no refunds? This is killing me.

Jawapez said...

@JFuller

That's understandable. I do remember seeing Rousseau's map previewed some time ago, and I can't find that on their website, so they must have sold that already.

JFuller said...

@Amy Lynn: Wow nothing like bashing the artist or their style. If you dont like it thats fine, but you really shouldnt be mocking their artistic creativity

Joey said...

I am starting to realize as I watch the new episodes that I am in a bit of a shock mode since it is the final season. Many things are going to take some getting used to once it all is said and done. Makes me understand more what Darlton meant when they said that there will be an initial reaction and a long term reaction to how the show will end.

What makes me excited, and no I will not say any spoilers, is that when I was reading up on spoilers around when episode 9 was being filmed dark ufo took a poll from the people who have read the scripts and such and from that poll "What Kate Does" was the least favorite episode. So if this is the case, and I liked the episode as much as I did, I cannot wait for the rest! (Not that I could wait before that info haha)

Sorry, avid Swan Station fan. Mainly more to do with White Stripes but still love it. I thought it wouldn't sell out so fast and was guaranteed one but turns out people liked it more than I thought. It'll be going in my computer room, a nice little nod I think.

MiddayShadows said...

@ Joey - I agree , it will take some time to process what is happening this season, both in the long term and on an episode by episode basis. Verrrry interesting about the people who've read up to episode 9 and considered "What Kate Did" the lesser episode ...It does bode well if future episodes are supposedly stronger, considering I liked it just fine!

mtutick said...

I missed choosing my country the first time through, and it wouldn't let me pass.

I wonder if the people that got through without selecting a country did so because the inventory was already sold out, and it was anouther byproduct of the errors (like the negative quantity numbers reported at EB).

Did anyone get through without paying shipping and have an early timestamp? Or are they all later?

Tim said...

@Midday, do you have a link to where they ranked those episodes? I've been trying to find it again but unsuccessfully.

Chrcowan said...

I think those that got through did the following; 1) jumped immediately, 2) already logged into paypal (or had their login copied and ready to be pasted), 3) selected the country w/o incident. No mystery really. (but yes, I will likely be one of the oversold because I forgot step 2)

Bodes very well! The acting was brilliant! Haven't had my re watch yet and didn't hear his name properly but the Japanese guy is quickly becoming my favourite character. Especially THE scene with Jack.

My brother just got the game "Mass Effect 2" - when you enter your character's name, you can pick the first name. However, the last name is given to you and has to be "Shepard." Guess what he picked as the first name...

LOL @ Chrcowan

@Martyn - Dogen! I've been trying to space my rewatch so that it happens a few day before the next ep., but I might not be able to resist watching it again tonight.

Just had this email -

FYI, this was posted on ocarzt.com today, the video was posted to youtube yesterday:

http://www.docarzt.com/lost/video-paule-scheer-quizzes-darlton-plus-a-mib-cluepuzzle/

Is smokey Johnny Cash? Of course not, but according to Carlton and Damon if you take “Johnny” and add two vowels and three consonants you get and anagram that works out to be a big hint in Man In Black’s identity. Here’s the catch: it’s in a foreign
language.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e4TS2QbOZHg&feature=channel

A clue or a joke? Not likely a real arg, but I figured the folks at lostargs.com might have a chance at crackin' it if it is a clue...

ChrisL said...

We're on it!

Martyn said...

Of course, the youtube video is blocked by ABC outside of the US. Will watch it later, thanks Zort.

Sandman90 said...

Zort -excellent! Sounds like a superb time filler.

Martyn said...

@Midday...

Dogan. Well I suppose it isn't a stereotypical Japanese name. Thanks, your ears better than mine obviously.

MiddayShadows said...

...ha- dont give me the credit there, I only knew his name after hearing it elsewhere (from TLC which is spoiler-free, so fair game to mention, I assume)

I can't see that vid either.

Looks like someone is putting their copy from today on ebay already (even though cancellation emails are still being sent out!) link

sorry: link

mtutick said...

The name Dogen was given during the "enhanced" re-air for the second half of LA-X before the new episode. I wouldn't have caught it if I hadn't see it their before "What Kate Does"

mtutick said...

oops.. that should be if I hadn't seeN it THERE...

Long day I guess

Martyn said...

Only a $1000? cheaper than other auctions.

And they're from Birmingham too. The rubbish one, not the good one.

MiddayShadows said...

@Martyn , which is which? Um, not saying I don't know...

(or that I do)

ChrisL said...

Refunded as expected.

futureself said...

Oh! The seller says he's had it rolled up in the tube since the beginning of November and only took it out to look at it once....curley wurley anyone?

It's in Birmingham, Alabama...

MiddayShadows said...

Panic on the streets of Birmingham...

Drama said...

OK, so now the dust has settled...

1. Crash was my second favourite. I'm bummed, but it's not the end of the road. The Danger still hasn't dropped, which has always been my number one. So again, if anyone wants to buddy me, I'm running a school trip to manhattan all next week, so am going to need serious help if it drops then.

2. Dude that asked me to email him - I just did.

3. First night of the play went OK. I was put off at first, as the drop happened as I was ready to shut down. I never had a chance - picked a country, then the thing fell over.

kushmeja said...

For refund emails to be taking this long, there must have been a ton oversold. Still didn't get a refund email yet, so keeping my fingers crossed.

Martyn said...

@Midday...

Good point, I don't really know either.

@futureself...

it actually says that? I can't see a curley wurley but I do detect a faint smell of burnt denim.

Martyn said...

@Ben...

Congrats with the opening night of the show!

@ChrisL...

Sorry about the refund e-mail but you have some of the best posters so all is well!

Chrcowan said...

@Jfuller

Email me at chrcowan at gmail if you get a refund notice. I'll be right after you. :(

MiddayShadows said...

@Martyn - I wasnt making a point! Just curious as to what you thought! Personally , I'd be happy to be anywhere in the U.K., as i've never had the chance to visit. YET.

ChrisL said...

Martyn. Absolutely. I am more than happy with what I have. I was after The Crash for someone else so I'm sad I couldn't help them out but it was always going to be a long shot...

Drama said...

don't worry, ChrisL, I shan't take it to heart.

ChrisL said...

Midday, you make sure you tell us when you do. We'll show you around ;-)

Martyn said...

lol, Midday, if you do visit the UK, Birmingham is a one day thing. Maybe i've lived here to long or maybe where I work is where all the crazies catch their bus but i'm not a fan of Birmingham. It's almost as dull as everyone thinks it is.

But i'm not from Birmingham, so I can say that :D

Martyn said...

@ChrisL...

Sorry, brain not functioning. I remember what you said yes, that's an even bigger downer now.

MiddayShadows said...

ChrisL, fanatstic! I'll practice butchering the accent starting now! (note: I actually think it's quite good. My girlfriend laughs -I mean says- otherwise).

ALY ET ALGIRLFRIENDUS VIDENT?

(i need sleep...)

MiddayShadows said...

I hear you Martyn - I'd prioritize other places. But I'm sure the crazies at the Birmingham bus stop are world class next to the ones I've seen here in Canada or the U.S.!

Martyn said...

true! My friend told me about a website called, peopleofwalmart.com and those are probably a little crazier than the people we get.

I'll give you a tour of birmingham. There's the bullring. There you go, fun tour, right?

Drama said...

birmingham is a dump. End of. And on that cheery note, goodnight!

Unknown said...

@ChrisL - WHat was the time on your PayPal receipt? Thanks.

MiddayShadows said...

lol..and such a fine building it was...

I've seen the peopleofwalmart site...scary. Fortunately Ive haven't seen that kind of thing first hand (too often...)

Martyn said...

When I was in Florida, we saw a car that was literally covered in shells and jesus stickers. It was shocking! I couldn't even tell you the colour of the car, it was that covered. Will try and find a photo of it, has to be seen to be believed.

Ben's hit it on the head, it is a dump. Visit Solihull, just outside of it. A hell of a lot more happier and beautiful to look at.

futureself said...

I've only been to Birmingham once, to film at the bullring. It was a beautiful sunny sfternoon but somehow it still seemed very grey...

futureself said...

Martyn...your Florida Jesus-shell car sounds amazing! I'd love to see a photo of that! It surely must be a tourist attraction in it's own right :D

Martyn said...

@futureself...

Yes, that is Birmingham. I can now see why my mom would never let me go there as a kid with my friends. And the bullring sticks out like a sore thumb with the rest of the city. The new coach station sticks out too. You can't put futuristic looking buildings in between derelict, falling apart brown brick buildings!

Searching for the photo now, it was in the holiday of 4000 photos so give me a sec.

Martyn said...

Gah! Can't find it! Will have a better look tomorrow. I'm going to bed on Lottery Ticket's orders, goodnight folks!

Unknown said...

Just as a note, since I saw it brought up here earlier:

I am still looking for Locke's Secret, if anyone is willing to talk to me about it. I'm just not willing to pay the rates Ebay has been having (although they are dropping each time.)

ObFuSc8 said...

Ha ha, catching up here. ARGers are so entertaining (in a good way)!

Nighty night Martyn!

ObFuSc8 said...

Just getting home to check, and somehow I made the 1st 108 grads at LOST U. Seriously not expected, so while I really need to sleep, I might just have a cup of coffee and see what happens at 12AM PT.

Amy Lynn said...

@Ob.... you might want to check at midnight EST and then get some sleep.

ObFuSc8 said...

Thanks Amy Lynn, but I was on call, so once I go to sleep am afraid that may be it!

kushmeja said...

Still no refund email, but no confirmation either. Anyone hear anything yet?
