LOST Auction Makes $1,869,475 35

According to totally unofficial figures, i.e. I worked them out myself, the LOST Auction that took place over the weekend made a budget busting

$1,869,475

If you want to find out how much each item went for then you can go to the LiveAuctioneers Website and go to the LOST Auction page.

Alternatively I have made a PDF file of the items and winning bids, this is totally unofficial and I have to say that I don't take any responsibility for any errors that may be present.

The files are in Adobe PDF format so you may need to download a separate plug in or application to open the files.

Many apologies for the earlier reported figure that was incorrect, a double accounting error crept in to the figures, the figures above are as accurate as we can make them with the information available.

wow, now where does that all go ? to ABC ? well, I'm sure they are all jumping up and down with glee.

I was never very sure who got the money, there has been some mention of charities on Hawaii, but nothing definite that I know of.

What about all the technical problems and internet bidders bids being DELETED and internet bidding STOPPED? Why would they not suspend the auction until these issues were resolved?

Zort70 said...

Good question and as soon as it happened I emailed PIH, etc.

Needless to say they have made no response !

To take down internet bids for a global auction and ignore all absentee bids is utterly ridiculous and shameful really.

I left my pc switched on and connected to the live bidding on the first night as I didn't make the end of the day.

I had a very worrying dream that our new kittens had got out and started playing with the computer mouse and had bought several very highly priced items !

(They didn't by the way, just my imagination)

Zort70 said...

Of course I should say that the total amount does not include the buyers premium or tax or shipping costs.

Zort70 said...

Ooops, got the totals wrong !

Anyway to know how this auction compared with similar auctions, i.e. the Battlestar Prop auction?

I'm curious, does this kind of auction happen often, or is this just another bit of Lost Fever? I wonder if shows like 24, Alias, etc have these kinds of auctions with such astronomical figures, does anybody follow this?

Tim said...

I believe the auctions have mainly been held for shows in the Sci-fi genre. Although I know that there have been pieces sold off of 24, I think Julien's has some there selling in a month or so, but I think the kind of auction solely dedicated to one show seems to be more for the shows with cult followings. Could be wrong though.

Zort70 said...

I'm not sure other shows have had a one sale takes all approach either.

However I haven't attended may other events recently.

I know propworx, did Battlestar, Star Trek and I think they're working with Stargate right now.

It would be really interesting to know how many items went to private collectors as opposed to institutional ones (the Planet Hollywoods, Hard Rock Cafes, and Hawaiian hotels of the world). The prices seem to point toward a healthy amount of corporate interest, right?

I just realized after looking at the photos that the van they auctioned off was not the same van they showed off at the store front. One was nice and all shiny and the other had a cracked dharma sign and missing a letter on the front (plus some rust.) weird, I wonder what they did with the other one.

Zort70 said...

Good point Lisa, I assume the one someone bought was the shiny one.

Did the one at the comic store get driven there or arrive on a truck ?

Lisa-Maladylis said...

yes, the one at the auction was the shiny one with our the rust and missing letters on Dharma. I'm sure they probably had 3 of them or so. Maybe they should just send me the other one. You just can't leave it laying around you know. :-)

Just another thought, will anyone be around at midnight to watch the Lost University countdown get to 0 ?

Lisa-Maladylis said...

not I, we have to get up at 3 am to take a couple of pups to the airport again. wayyyy too early !

hey guys did anyone pick up anything? i got the MIB outfit from The Incident Part 1, the first time that we met him.

I really enjoyed getting to participate and experience this thing live. Definitely was an emotional roller-coaster for the floor bidders, but it was great getting to cheer each other on! Lots of technical issues and inadequate planning in several areas by PiH, but overall I am REALLY glad I made the trip.

Congrats to all who won something. I can't wait to get my Jughead Core! :)

Nice meeting everyone and here's hoping we can find more excuses to get together in the future.

Zort70 said...

Congrats, I was watching that one.

I know ObFusc8 got a couple of things.

Zort70 said...

RMutualFriend, you got the Jughead core ?

Wow, congrats on that as well.

Thanks, Zort. I am pretty ecstatic about it. Trying to come up with a display to do it justice should be fun.

Congrats on the Jacob costume, thaeagle2003! That thing looks sweet in person.

Hi all. It certainly was a challenge to pick up some of the iconic props without breaking the bank! Congrats to RMF & eagle, those are fantastic! I nabbed the collection of Jin's handcuffs from S1/S2 (Lot 167), which I'm very happy with. Also picked up one of Charlie's S2 costumes (Lot 260) and a pair of Juliet's shirts (Lot 440). I tried for something from S6 as well, but prices were just a little too inflated for me on day 2.

Nothing wrong with that take, Rob. Great variety of pieces! Congrats!

Glad to see some here got some Lots! (RobPerrin: I sent you a DM) Tough watching those numbers going up and up both days!

I must say that I was concerned that most of this stuff was going to end up with prop collectors or those up to make some quick $$ on a turnaround, but seeing that quite a few of our own managed to pick items up makes me very happy. Congrats to all.

It was a fun trip experiencing it all, together with some great LOST fans. A particular thanks to those who attended for some excellent photos and a great running Twitter commentary.

Hey everyone! It's always good to see all the old faces talking about our favorite subject. :-)

I just recorded the LOST University countdown clock hitting zero... so HAPPY LOST UNIVERSITY MASTERS DAY! Be sure to watch it in HD so you can read the text better:

I was low on funding right now... but I'm already quite happy with my LOST collection / LOST Shrine, so it didn't hurt quite as bad. Still would have been nice to add something besides a bobblehead or a doll to the collection... LOL Massive congrats to all who managed to pick up something from the auction! I know it is something to cherish for a very long time to come...

do we need the blu-ray to enroll in classes for the master program? i'm not able to do it online yet... bugger.

I'm happy to hear that at least a few props went home with fans. I would have killed for Claire's bottle with the messages in it but that and other favorite items were just out of my price range. Highlights of the auction were the photo ops (particularly the plane, hatch, and swan station) and getting my catalog autographed by Rob Kyker (who couldn't have been nicer!). Now if only I had a blu-ray player to participate in the Lost University...

I've also been loving http://www.lostincomics.com/ and found this week's comic particularly fitting. For $15 I might even be able to afford the print!

What everyone think of Profiles auctioneer?

Morning All,

Happy "It's the last time a LOST DVD will be released Day" until they decide to reissue the ultimate "I Sank The Island" version in a year from now. :) Will be at Best Buy for 10am. Pre-ordered Season 6 and besides bonus disc, they're offering a mini-version of LOST encyclopedia. Also picking up entire series.

Thanks to all who tweeted and kept those of us not able to attend the auction up to date. And GREAT news that some of our own were able to pick something up. Still hoping that whomever picked up pieces of Oceanic 6 jet will decide to sell pieces. It's definitely a money making venture.

And last but not least... fans of Nate Duval... check out this article in NY Times on his latest venture. I'm working with him on a few projects (he lives in same town that I work) and although I'd like to take credit for this... I can't. Quite the spotlight for one of our own LOST artists.
