Firstly a reminder that tickets for the LOST auction exhibit go on sale today at 10:00am pacific time, that is 13:00 Eastern and 18:00 in the UK.
Justin mentions in the comments that if you are going to send your $500 bidders deposit in then you do not need a separate ticket to get in and see the exhibit.
So to while away the time until they go on sale Just Thinking gave us the links to the videos below which are of Rob Kyker explaining a bit more about the props of LOST from earlier this year.
There is also this video from IMDB.com, but I can't view it in the UK so click away and see if you can view it where you are.

First?!
Ok so while I'm here before everyone else apparently, I wanted to throw this out there in lieu of all the LOST prop talk...
I've been searching for an as close as possible match of Ben's (Halliwax's) Dharma Parka (Dharka). I see they're auctioning off Ben's, and this may be my opportunity to finally ID the damn thing!
I've searched countless army surplus stores online and off. I've talked to prop forum people, military people, and searched thrift and antique stores. I can't find any parka that comes close. And all I hear about Disney and their wardrobe department is that they're cheap when it comes to stuff like this. There's a scene in S4 where there's a locker full of these babies, so that leads me to believe they were purchased surplus from some military vendor, or perhaps a clothing company like The North Face...
Do you guys think I'd be able to get close enough to the real deal at the prop auction to peak at a tag or perhaps talk to someone who worked in wardrobe about it there? I feel like this is my last chance to finally ID the damn thing... Officially.
Any ideas? I mean admit it, you know you want one too!!!
I knew I should have commented as soon as I posted this !
A big Happy Anniversary to Maven for 38 years of wedded bliss !
I was going to point you to this thread in a forum, but then I looked at who had replied !
Probably doesn't help now but Lostpedia has an entry about it and says -
"The producers stated in the April 25, 2008 Official Lost Podcast that this item will be available on the ABC store this fall. "
Hahah thanks Zort, at least you looked!
I did see that entry, but read that it was later debunked as a joke...
The estimated value on the Dharka in the auction goes up to $300... I'm tempted to try for it, but there's no way I'll end up spending under 1k for it.
Maybe whoever buys it can fill us in... I just wish I could get a nice gander at the tag!!!
Thanks, Zort! Where, oh where, do the years go...I'm sure a frozen donkey wheel is involved somehow! :)
Ah, people, I have a feeling, this "find the false prop" is the last LOST ARG, isn't it? (I hope not, actually, lol)
Any one get tickets yet? Still says not available at razorgator.com
Yikes! I can't spend 65 a ticket and pay 55 for the book :(
Plus shipping is 20 bucks and handling is four bucks! Woah
WOW...$109 for the two of us to see some props? Now I'm thinking of putting up the $1,000 to get into the exhibit free! Gotta read the fine print to make sure we get our money back if we don't buy anything!
Yikes, ABC's last great LOST money grab is in effect!
Oh wait, the giant colossal mega-ultra-ultimate edition of the complete series is yet to come...
Just talked with Profiles in History:
They will take the pre-registration with credit card #. However, they will not charge anything to your card and then reimburse you if you don't buy anything. It is a good faith "deposit". If you buy something, you will be given an invoice and then you decide on your method of payment. Nothing will show up on your statement until, and if, you buy something and then you have the option of using that credit card. And you do get entrance to the exhibit for free. Sounds like the way to go.
I also just got off the phone with Profiles and can confirm what Maven says. No charge to credit card, they're just putting it on file.
My mom is joining me but does not intend to bid. This is the free way to for her to join in the fun verses the $65 exhibit ticket!
Talked with them again: If you pre-register to bid, when you get there you sign in, get your paddle and a necklace ID. That ID lets you get in and out of the exhibit all day. You can take pics of the things on display.
Thanks Megan and Maven, much appreciated.
I'm off to the theatre now.
it sure sounds like fun, I wish it was closer to me ! Just can't afford all these lost things anymore. ugh !
Oh and a couple more tests and they will figure out what I have I guess. Right now they think I have MS lovely !!
Okay, I faxed in the pre-registration forms for bidding and free entrance to the exhibit! After calling one more time, they said they want pre-registration and tickets for the exhibit to discourage lookie-loos hanging around and taking up seats instead of potential bidders. Response has been overwhelming so far!
they have another thing coming if they think that will keep the looky loos out lol
Hi Maven, does that mean that they're now saying purchased tickets *are* necessary to see the exhibit?
Cosmically Yours
Yes, purchased tickets through razorgator.com are required to see the exhibit. Pre-registering with a credit card through Profile in History gets you a paddle for the auction and an all day ID for the exhibit. Pre-registering doesn't cost anything except giving them your credit card #. They won't charge anything to it, unless you buy something and then tell them to.
After seeing everyones response on here I broke down and bought the Catalog today! I also called in to verify I won't be charged on my credit card and they said they wouldn't. So I mailed my registration in today and they said don't worry about it filling up once it's mailed! And they said it's good for the exhibition and auction!!
Woot woot! Guess we all have to meet up!
Unbelievable--I just received an email from Profiles saying that they have once again changed the procedures!
Now, they're saying that in addition to registration, bidders new to Profiles need to purchase a catalog and also an exhibit ticket! I will definitely be calling back in the morning to clarify. Even if you didn't care about the exhibit, it seems crazy that bidders would need to purchase the catalog when the pdfs are available for free online!
Wow, Megan! These changes suck! How can they keep doing this? I'm going to check this out tomorrow. I have not received an email about this....yet.
if they make you buy a catalog- that is B.S.
I want to go- and i hope that i can bid on something- but if i cant even afford to get in without spending $100+ forget it. i'll wait for ebay.
I was doing a little exploring after registering for online bidding. It seems they are already accepting bids!!! There are quite a few items with a bid already and some with multiple bids.
Crappity crap crap. I hate to think what the prices will be in another 2 weeks by the actual days of the auction.

uh oh....the bidding increments are pretty high....
Bid Increments
From Increment
0 25
500 50
1000 100
2000 250
5000 500
10000 1000
20000 2500
50000 5000
100000 10000
250000 25000
yeah that's about the normal increments for a auction. I think they are going to have a mess here with alot of people there but not alot biding up too high since most of us Losties are not rich.
sorry to triple post, but you can pretty well figure out current high bid on each item based on starting price, number of bids and bidding increments guidelines.
The bids are for absentee bids, so if you can't go to the auction then you can put in your maximum bid and the auction house will bid on your behalf until someone else in the room, or another absentee bid beats yours.
I've just clicked the bid now button and it asks you to enter a bid amount, it doesn't automatically increment your bid by a set amount.
It just might Zort as the bids get higher. This is how they are done in the USA, the auctioneer will always raise it at higher amounts when the bids get higher. This is how they keep people from nickle and dimeing them and making the bidding go on too long.
This sounds like one big "milk the fans one last time"....
Changing rules, forced catalogue purchases, "open" bids already or easy to work out, and props that upon inspection don't seem to be holding up as screen used.
It seems the more we inspect, the more obvious it is that we are simply being asked to snap up the reserve stock at inflated prices.
I would be gutted if I paid £1500 for Sawyers Letter, only to watch the episode back a realise it doesn't match.
On a seperate note....the image of Rob Kyker on the home page.....
Its Jacob!!!!!!!!!!! Anyone ever remember the screen cap of Jacob in the cabin from season 3?? Thats him!!
Another Lost mystery solved!
You could be right ioioos !
I've created a NEW POST with the new auction info provided by andalone.
It looks like absentee bids taken by what comes in first in case of a tie- so if you want to bid say, maximum 600$ on something, you have to get that in before someone else does the same amount. That drives people to get the bids in, without even knowing what other people's amounts are.
I was looking at the baseball, #1086, and comparing it to the screen views-Dogen spinning it in "What Kate Does" and then in "Sundown" when it drops on the floor and when Dogen holds it sitting at the Temple pool.
None of those balls seem to have that line of (Japanese?) writing on them, or the round stamp with English writing. The onscreen balls also seem lighter, and look to me like there is a D-24 on the spinning one, and a pretty clear D 6 on the Temple pool one.
Maybe for Dogen -#6 baseball?
Anyway-again it looks like you're better off to assume these are all the back up props. Unless someone comes out and says "we only made one of those."
